Cascade Detergent And Dawn Dish Soap Are Owned By One Company
If you purchase your own dishwashing products, chances are you have seen bottles of Dawn dish soap and Cascade detergent filling up the shelves at your local store. It makes sense, too. After all, Cascade is one of the best dish detergents as ranked by real customer reviews, while Dawn dish soap is the best-selling dishwashing liquid on Amazon U.S., according to AS Insight, and one of those cleaning products that earned Good Housekeeping's seal of approval. What you might not know, though, is that both Cascade detergent and Dawn dish soap are owned by one company: Procter & Gamble (P&G).
If you have never heard of P&G before, it is a consumer goods company that was created by William Procter, a candle maker, and James Gamble, a soap maker, in 1837. Cascade and Dawn, however, are not that old. Cascade was introduced by P&G in 1955, whereas Dawn has been helping people clean their dishes since 1972. Still, both Cascade and Dawn have remained part of P&G's business for decades, and today they have both grown into much larger brands. Currently, their product lineups offer everything from gels to powders and rinse aids to dish sprays and liquid soaps.
Cascade and Dawn are far from the only brands P&G owns. Its portfolio stretches well beyond the kitchen, covering everything from laundry and floor cleaning products to hair care, grooming, oral care, and baby products. They even make over-the-counter health products. So, if you have previously used Cascade and Dawn and liked how they performed, maybe it is time to learn what other products and brands their parent company owns and try a few of them, too.
Other brands and products that Procter & Gamble owns
If you head from the dishwashing aisle to the laundry aisle at your local store, chances are you will still find plenty of P&G names. The company owns quite a few fabric-care brands. Tide, Gain, Downy, Ariel — the list just goes on. Tide, for example, sells liquid detergents, powders, stain removers, and laundry pods, among other things. In fact, it is one of the top three laundry detergent pod brands, according to Consumer Reports. Downy, another P&G fabric-care brand, in comparison, sells fabric softeners, scent beads, and dryer sheets.
P&G's home-care side is just as varied. It owns Febreze, which makes air sprays, fabric refreshers, plug-ins, car fresheners, and products for small spaces, as well as Swiffer, which sells dusters, mops, cleaning pads, and refills. Other than that, P&G also owns several brands that focus on hair and body care. Take Head & Shoulders, Pantene, Olay, and Old Spice, for instance. These brands make a range of products from shampoos to conditioners, and styling products to body washes, deodorants, and skin-care products. P&G owns Gillette as well. And, if you watch TV, you probably already know that it is a brand that is famous for making razors and shaving products.
P&G also owns some over-the-counter health-care brands like Vicks and Metamucil. If that wasn't enough, P&G also owns some baby and female care products, such as Pampers and Tampax -– brands that are famous for making diapers, tampons, and other feminine-care products. Even some oral-care products are owned by P&G, like Crest, which sells toothpaste, mouthwash, and whitening products, and Oral-B, which makes toothbrushes, replacement brush heads, and floss, among other things.
