She Transforms A Glass Vase Into The Cutest Bee Hive Decor
You won't bee-lieve this DIY. Flowers are a great centerpiece for any party, and there's no shortage of creative DIYs using flowers from Dollar Tree, but the vessel itself shouldn't go unnoticed either. Whether you're hosting a bee-themed baby shower, birthday party, bachelorette, or you just love those little honey-making bugs, you can transform a glass flower vase into a decor piece that will have guests humming. That's exactly what TikTok creator Mersina G did! Mersina G needed a centerpiece for her honey-themed baby shower, so she first grabbed a rounded glass vase from Dollar Tree, then wrapped it in jute rope to give it a beehive-like texture. A black circle hive door, little bee charms, and autumnal flowers finished off the buzz-worthy look.
Following in Mersina G's footsteps shouldn't be too difficult for any home crafter. Head to your craft store or dollar store to pick up a vase and some thin rope. The vase's shape should be somewhat rounded in order to mimic a natural bee hive. Mersina G used a black felt paper with adhesive on the back for the hive door, but you could also get creative with paint or fabric. Pick up small bee and flower trinkets — like this pack of Qulkws Flatback Bumble Bee and Sunflower Embellishments – and artificial flowers. For tools, you'll need a hot glue gun, glue, and scissors.
Jute rope and bee charms turn a vase into an adorable hive
For the first step in this project, Mersina G slowly wrapped the rope around the vase and glued it down as she went, leaving the underside bare. "I highly recommend finding another pair of hands to help you put the rope down onto the vase, as gluing, roping, and rotating all at the same time can be kind of tricky," she said on TikTok. She the adhered a black circle of felt onto the vase near the middle, then used another segment of rope to create a border around the black circle, covering the felt edges. Next, she glued on a few bee and flower embellishments. Finally, Mersina G cut artificial flower stems to the correct height and set them inside, although she noted that real florals would work just as well inside the glass vase.
@mersinag My favorite DIY detail from my babyshower! 🐝 my hands might have caught some cramps but I love how this centerpiece for my tables turned out. All items were from Amazon, Dollar tree, and Michael's! 💛 #diy #babyshower #beehive #alittlehoneyisontheway
There are a few ways you can adjust Mersina G's project to make it your own. Instead of using a fall-themed bouquet of flowers, try sunflowers or hydrangeas for a summery look, or tulips and daffodils to welcome spring. If you'd like to go totally off-book, use the same method to cover your glass vase, but skip the entrance to the bee hive. Use a colored rope instead of the tan jute rope and switch out your bee charms for something more your style. If you're missing the beach, a similar DIY vase can bring coastal vibes with seashells and twine. However you craft it, you'll now have a unique textured vase that can be the centerpiece for any season. Let this be a lesson that vases don't have to stay boring; Dollar Tree glass vases can be used for unique decor and storage DIYs all over your house.
