Stop Tossing Toilet Paper Rolls: Turn Them Into The Cutest Halloween Party Poppers

Halloween parties give you excuses to play around with spooky and delightful decor. Cardboard cutouts of scared-y cats and witch's hats are standard fare for your home's front windows. But what about your All Hallow's Eve party table? It should have something really boo-tiful and amusing that starts the party with a bang. Enter the popper ghost, the cute and decorative party favor you didn't know your party needed. Made from empty toilet paper rolls and ghostly good humor, these pretty poppets will conjure up a frightfully good time whenever you or your guests pop one.
To make this type of great Halloween decor, you'll need to have at least one TP tube per guest. That ensures you'll have enough finished poppers to go around. If you don't have enough, you can order them: something like Bargain Paradise Cardboard Craft Tubes from Amazon. You'll also need balloons — one for each of the ghosts you'll make. A package of Lesgln Halloween Party Balloons is a good option because it adds Halloween hues to the DIY. And don't forget the embellishments, such as colored construction paper, some markers, crayons, and other drawing instruments. You'll need something to fill the pop: Try Sepglitter Fall Pom Pom Balls for this. Finally, cheap and easy Halloween decorations require very few tools to make. Scissors, plus clear tape or glue, help you dress the bodies of the ghosts in their fright night costumes.
Making the TP tube ghost poppers
Popper toys often make sounds or toss out confetti when their popper mechanism is pulled. In this Halloween craft, the latter is the case. You'll need to give the popper ghosts bodies — aka repurposed TP tubes — and a mechanism to make the pop — the balloons. To get started, trim the very top off a balloon and then pull it over one end of a toilet paper tube. The balloon's narrow opening remains intact and hangs just below the bottom of the tube where you tie it together. Glue the balloon to the TP tube to keep it in place. You could also try Slergut Halloween Washi Tape if you want to add extra decorative embellishments.
Cut enough construction paper to cover the body of the tube and then glue it onto the roll. (Part of it might cover the balloon.) Next, draw the ghost's face using your art tools. Finally, pour some pom poms into the top of the ghost's head until it's full. When you're ready for it to pop, pull down on the tied balloon. The pom poms will explode out of the top of the ghost's head once you let go.
This version of the popper ghost is a great way to decorate for Halloween as is, but some add-ons make it next-level spooky. For example, instead of drawing eyes on the ghost, glue on some Upins Black Wiggle Googly Eyes instead. Those will move and bounce with each pop. It would also be fun to replace the pom poms with Marforever Holographic Star Moon Confetti or do a mix of both.
