Whether you have a lineup of skincare products or you're more of a minimalist when it comes to toiletries and beauty products, somehow items always seem to end up on the bathroom counter. Of course, there are hidden storage solutions to keep your bathroom countertop tidy, but if you use items daily, it can be so easy to just leave them out instead of putting them away after each use. So, why not create a cute bathroom storage solution that you can keep on the counter?

This impressive DIY uses a few everyday items and decorations, and is both functional and stylish. Just think of it like using a vintage tray from the thrift store for stylish bathroom storage. You'll need two empty tape rolls (these could be duct tape, painter's tape, etc. — just be sure you use two rolls of the same type for this project), a piece of cardboard, scissors, and a hot glue gun. You'll also need some felt (like these Purple Felt Fabric Sheets from CHRORINE), along with a decorative bow (like this set of Mini Bows from Argthjy).

There's also another simple storage DIY you can do at the same time with an empty mini Pringles can, some decorative patterned paper (like this Lavender Scrapbook Paper from Feivando, which would go great with your felt-lined container), a decorative plastic flower handle, and some rhinestone ribbon (here's some Rhinestone Ribbon Wrap from Benvo). Why settle for one bathroom storage hack when you could have two?

How to DIY bathroom storage with empty tape rolls

Start by cutting each tape roll and making them into a "U" shape. Glue each piece to the cardboard so they form an oval. Then, cut around the base of the oval to remove the excess cardboard. Next, line the bottom with felt and then the sides. It's ideal to have a piece of felt large enough that you can cover the interior sides, and then fold it over to cover the exterior sides as well. Once everything is covered, glue your bow front and center. The additional DIY with a Pringles can is fairly simple, too. Just cover the tin can with your decorative paper, and then glue the flower handle on top. Then you'll line the lid with rhinestone ribbon.

Instead of using purple felt, you could use any color you'd like. These Colorful Felt Sheets from flic-flac can give your container a little extra personality. Consider using different decorative paper to cover your tin so it matches. If you need your storage container to be a little bigger, you could use additional empty tape rolls to create a larger oval or a different shape entirely. This storage container is not waterproof, so keep it away from the sink and don't use it to store any leaky or wet items like soap. If you need a soap dish, find one that keeps counters dry to prevent mold or bacteria growth; you can also reuse seashells for a DIY soap dish.
