Small-space maximization, Container vegetable gardening, Pollinator garden design
- A small-space living aficionado, Barbara conquered décor and storage challenges while living aboard her two sailboats, trawler, and motorhome.
- Because her mountain home offered woefully little sunlit gardening space, she turned her driveway into a 60-container vegetable and herb garden.
- Her appreciation of an ecosystem's pollinators led her to create a trellis-centered pollinator garden in which bees, butterflies, and hummingbirds thrive among the colorful flowers.
Experience
Barbara brings three decades of writing experience to the table. Her first "real" job as an advertising copywriter channeled her ability to paint pictures with words. As she continued to fine-tune her writing skills, business clients began to take notice. Barbara's previous small business ownership, and her sales/client-facing experience, added a valuable business perspective to her content. Her partnerships with marketing agencies, and her affinity for medical/healthcare writing, further broadened her writing horizons. Today, Barbara's "bloom where you're planted" philosophy infuses her House Digest home and garden content. Memories of her tropical Bahamas vacations, and her decade living in the western North Carolina mountains, spurred Barbara to embrace distinctive design and décor styles. Her articles highlight these elements while delivering solid information that helps enrich readers' quality of life.
