Experience

Krystal has been writing since high school, where she realized her love of journalism as the editor of her school newspaper. She has written on a variety of topics including travel, health, entertainment, family dynamics, and addiction. After a decade working as a bartender in New York City, she went back to school in 2021 for her master's degree in creative writing. She currently teaches writing at her alma mater and enjoys highlighting other nonfiction writers at her monthly reading series. After spending most of her childhood and early adult life moving around, she enjoys writing about home, especially through the lens of material items. She considers herself a minimalist at heart and often relaxes by decluttering and reorganizing various closets and cupboards in her home. Her main thrill in life is a dramatic before and after reveal.

Education

Krystal earned her MFA in Creative Writing from The City College of New York. She also holds a BA in Communications from California State University, Fullerton, where she concentrated in Public Relations and minored in English.
