Makenna Underwood is an award-winning journalist with over five years of experience in lifestyle reporting. Before graduating from Howard University in May 2024, she worked as an investigative editor at The Hilltop, her college's newspaper; a reporter for Simply Magazines, a lifestyle magazine based in the Washington metropolitan area; and Dorm Therapy, a college lifestyle and dorm brand. She has a passion for blogging and has built a community of over 5,000 people with her lifestyle blog, Makenna's Meditation. Most recently, she was a Features Print Hub intern at The New York Times, where she copy edited culture and lifestyle stories for the print edition.
