  • Robert's ideal design theme vacillates between Sir John Soane-level chaos and ascetic austerity.
  • He's tackled furniture reupholstery from time to time, dismantling and recovering everything from sofas to antique seating.
  • He's an expert at scoring free stuff off Nextdoor, and has kitted an entire garage and (free) workbench with pro-level tools for next to nothing.

Experience

Robert Haynes-Peterson has been in and around journalism most of his life, first as "Printer's Devil" at age three at a ghost town's newspaper. He served as News Director for his college radio station, writing occasionally for the local Gannett paper. After a long stint in New York City writing and editing for a number of magazines and websites, he and his family moved from an apartment in Queens to a house in the Seattle area, offering plenty of DIY opportunities. His primary focus as a writer and editor has been in food and drink, travel, and luxury lifestyle, and he's covered home goods and interior design for more than a decade.

Education

Robert has a BA in Geology with a minor in the Fine Arts from Whitman College, studied archaeology for the Master's program at Arizona State University, and studied journalism and storytelling through The New School in New York City.
