Mina Starsiak Hawk Chooses The Cozy Neutral You'll Want In Your Home

It's no secret that Mina Starsiak Hawk, star of HGTV's "Good Bones," is a fan of all-white kitchens. While some call them bland and boring, she says that all-white is the ideal background for these cooking and entertaining spaces. In an Instagram post, she explains that "White kitchens work as a clean slate to add any color that you can change out whenever you want! Having that option gives you more flexibility when you get that itch to refresh your space." So even if you're a lover of all things bold and bright, you can still benefit from starting with a white canvas.

However, some believe that white is too stark and bright. If you're one of these people, Hawk also loves another tone that can be used either in the kitchen or in any area of the home. This option will give your space a cozy vibe while maintaining the perfect neutral backdrop.

Covering a cabin in a cozy color

While Mina Starsiak Hawk is a fan of white, she's also a lover of greige. In the "Good Bones" episode, "Twinning is Winning," she remodeled a home with a chic cabin aesthetic and opted to use this color throughout the space. She said, "A calming greige paint is going up all over the walls and ceiling for an extra cozy feel" (via Realtor.com). As displayed in the images of the project on Two Chicks & A Hammer, the paint color she chose has green undertones that provide a more earthy appearance. Other rooms of the home lean more towards a white-gray with a slightly beige undertone, which adds coziness as well.

To further emphasize the warmth in the paint colors, Starsiak Hawk includes plenty of wooden furniture and carries brown vinyl planks throughout the entire home, which she says will "bring in cabin charm." Small pieces like wooden coffee tables and picture frames can be a perfect complement to a greige color scheme.

Hawk's favorite greige paint shades

If you're searching for the right greige paint color, Mina Starsiak Hawk has named two Sherwin-Williams shades as her favorites. According to an interview with Philly Home + Garden Show, Hawk says that these are her ideal shades because they're both "very soft and go with almost all color palettes."

The first option, called Rhinestone, is described as a white base with blue undertones, which leans a bit cool-toned but still has beige mixed in. This color would pair well with warm whites, medium blues, and soft grays to create a neutral space that doesn't feel cold. Her other favorite paint color is Sea Salt, described as a muted green with blue undertones, which is very similar to the color she used in most of the chic cabin renovation. Because this tone is slightly bolder than Rhinestone, pairing it with various shades of white or dark grays will allow it to really stand out.
