Not only it is inexpensive, but this hack is also super simple and doesn't require much effort, meaning you don't have to plan much in advance of carrying it out. Forget expensive scent beads, sachets, or other hacks to make your laundry smell nice — you'll be instantly converted after trying out the scent-boosting trick below.

Your clothes will smell fresh much longer

This hack basically involves using an iron as normal, except for one small extra step at the beginning. When you are adding water to your iron, sprinkle in a few drops of your favorite essential oil. Don't add too many, as you could make the water too oily, making the ironing process less effective. Not sure about which scent to choose? If you wear perfume or aftershave, you don't want your clothes to smell overpowering, just nice and fresh. In this case, opt for lavender essential oil. Lavender has a lively, fresh scent that won't only relax you, but could even make you feel less tired and ready to face the day.

If you're not a fan of lavender, eucalyptus essential oil is another good choice, as it will make your clothes smell fresh and crisp without being overpowering. This hack is pretty self-explanatory, but be mindful that using too much essential oil when ironing could leave residue on your clothes. To prevent this, just be careful about how many drops you add. If you're not convinced about adding essential oil into your iron, make a spray with the water/essential oil instead and then gently spritz it over the item as you iron for a long-lasting scent boost.
