All it takes is a few wooden shapes from the craft store, some paint, and a little glue.
For your supplies, you'll want a 12-inch round piece of lightweight wood to serve as the sign's base. Note, in this piece of wood, you'll need two holes at the top to thread a piece of twine to hang the sign from. You could get a round with pre-drilled holes, like this wooden plaque from Amazon, or if not, simply choose a drill bit and create your own holes where you like. You'll also need three oval pieces of wood measuring approximately 5 inches by 7 inches each, such as this one from Walmart. Then, as said, you'll also need some adhesive, paint, and an optional choice of embellishments.
DIY-ing a pumpkin sign for the fall
As @thenestdesigns shared in their TikTok, the first step in creating this DIY pumpkin sign is to prepare the round base, either by staining or painting it. Next, paint your three ovals (which will combine for the sign's pumpkin shape). Once the paint has dried, assemble your pumpkin on the round base by overlapping the ovals. First, glue two of the oval shapes down side by side, and then place the third on top, in the center.
At this point, your piece of simple fall décor is basically done, but for an additional flourish, you could paint smaller pieces of scrap wood to create a pumpkin stem and leaf. You could also use an embellishment, like a repurposed fall pick or spray, to create this accent for the sign. Lastly, thread some twine, ribbon, or fabric through the holes and tie a knot to create a hanger for your pumpkin-themed sign.
