"I adore blue in a kitchen. It's very chic, it's very French," Farr said during an episode of "Tough Love," via Realtor. "It is very calming. I just think it's forever and ever and ever. During an interview on "The Today Show," Farr expressed her love for indigo, saying that "it's timeless and as a result it's an ongoing trend." She also recommends indigo when searching for a colorway that is right for your space because she feels it matches with everything in a home and is a calming, yet beautiful hue.
But indigo isn't the only shade of blue that can add some life to your home without looking dated in five years. A very deep blue can add contrast to a home and offer a moody vibe that homeowners may crave. On the opposite end, a light blue tone can create a beachy, airy feeling and works great when used on a wall, rather than cabinets, which look better when painted a more navy blue shade.

Blue is a great option for homeowners who may be wary about adding color to their kitchens. You can go all out by opting for blue cabinets or blue walls, or keep things a bit more simple by choosing blue appliances (there is nothing more gorgeous than a deep navy stove) or using blue just for the island. The best thing about blue is that it works with all different colors and materials. "It works with every finish — we've got some gold, metal here, we've got ceramics, everything works with this color," Farr said about blue during a segment on "The Today Show."
To really make the blue stand out, pair your blue cabinets with gold hardware. This will highlight the deep blues and give your kitchen a classy vibe. If you have a smaller kitchen space, consider using a blue with a high gloss to brighten the space and give the illusion of a bigger kitchen.
