Turn A Few Simple Dollar Tree Items Into A Stunning DIY Outdoor Lighting Feature

No prior crafting experience is necessary, but if you've got an eye for design, it will certainly help. This clever light fixture looks high-end but in reality, it will only cost you a few dollars to make and your guests will be none the wiser. With a little bit of cutting, gluing, and decorating, this fun DIY will leave plenty of room in your budget for those patio lounge chairs you've been eyeing. And thankfully, there is an instructional video that will give you everything you need in order to nail this project.

Build an enchanting outdoor chandelier with dollar store finds

TikTok user @artsandclassy reveals the trick to creating a gorgeous patio light fixture with just a few items from Dollar Tree. You will need an interlocking black plastic fence and a circular wreath form from the gardening section, as well as black zip ties, twine, fairy lights, and decorative leaves. The only tools you will need for this project are a set of pliers and a hot glue applicator.

Start by placing your fence on your work surface and cutting off the spokes. Next, use your pliers to remove the outer ring of the wreath form. Discard the outer ring and glue the wreath form to one end of the fence, aligning it with the bottom edge. Wrap the fence around the perimeter of the wreath form, using zip ties to secure it. Now, the fun part begins. Cut off the ends of the zip ties and adorn your chandelier with twine, which you will use to secure the fairy lights and leaves in place. As shown in the video, you can attach several strands of twine to the light fixture and knot them together to hang it up.

If your fairy lights are battery-powered, it's important to arrange them in a way that will allow you to replace the battery when it runs out. Keep this in mind when you are hanging your chandelier, as well. Once complete and positioned, this DIY will add charm to your patio and illuminate it in twinkling light.

Why chandeliers are the best choice for outdoor lighting

Thanks to their timeless elegance and versatility, chandeliers transform an unremarkable terrace into an outdoor living room you'd want to sit in. No longer relegated to formal living rooms and banquet halls, these light fixtures add style and function to patios and gardens. Chandelier lighting offers a wide range of benefits. They create a warm ambient glow and can illuminate areas of your space that other light sources do not cover. They also take up less space than other options and come in a variety of styles, materials, sizes, and price points.

Most importantly, chandeliers are beautiful statement pieces that create a mesmerizing focal point in any space. It's a subtle trick that instantly gives your patio an upscale feel. With all this in mind, it's no wonder Taylor Swift's stunning outdoor living space features an ornate outdoor chandelier. Thanks to this crafty DIY, you can have one too — for a tiny fraction of the price.
