The Dollar Tree Product That'll Help Organize & Declutter Your Plastic Food Containers

It seems that no matter how hard we try, the plastic food container cabinet always ends up a mess. Lids get separated from their counterparts, large containers swallow up your medium sized-ones, and tiny storage containers get lost in the black hole that is that cupboard. However, there is a clever dollar store cabinet hack that can at least make finding and organizing small food containers much easier. All you need to do is hang a Dollar Tree mesh laundry bag inside the cabinet door and store the small containers inside. It's a clever way to organize your Tupperware.

Using mesh laundry bags accomplishes two things: First, it separates the small bins from the larger ones, keeping them safe from being pushed to the back or into corners. Second, it makes it easier to find them. You just open the cabinet door, and there they are. Here is a closer look at how to use mesh laundry bags to sort your small food containers.

How to use mesh laundry bags to organize food containers

According to blogger Cook, Create, Consume, you can use a mesh organizer to store your various small food containers. To use it, all you need to do is hang it from Command Hooks adhered to the inside of the door, and then stash your containers and lids in them. For instance, small containers can go in one bag, circular lids in another, and square lids in their own bag, and so on. Dollar Tree doesn't have the specific mesh organizer referenced on the blog, but you can create a similar storage system using its Mesh Laundry Bags, which cost $1.25 for a pack of three.

Since the Dollar Tree bags don't have holes to hang them from, you can secure them to the door using clear pushpins, or create your own hole in the top of the bag if you want to use hooks. Add them to the walls of your cabinet or the inside of the door. While using pushpins will create a hole in your cabinetry, it will be a small pinprick and barely noticeable. If you don't feel like that will hold the weight of something heavier like glass containers, stick to using it to keep your small plastic storage container lids in order.
