One Common Kitchen Item Fixes Your Linen Closet Chaos

The average linen closet tends to look a little like a large junk drawer, containing way more than just sheets and towels. From extra toiletries to cleaning products to toilet paper and more, linen closets are usually a major storage location for a home's miscellaneous clutter. While there's nothing wrong with keeping a vast array of objects in the linen closet, problems can arise once those items start to pile up and create a mess. Fortunately, there is a way to fix linen closet chaos with a storage solution that may already be in your kitchen: a lazy Susan.

A lazy Susan is a round turntable typically made out of wood or plastic that can spin around to make objects easier to access. After all, there's a reason lazy Susan's are a kitchen's best friend. But a lazy Susan can be useful in just about every room in the house, too. For instance, you can store extra soap and shampoo bottles on a lazy Susan kept in the linen closet — or other similar items. This way, the next time you need to grab a bottle, you can rotate the turntable and see everything that is available without having to pull anything off of the shelves.

Lazy Susans are perfect for organizing miscellaneous items

Since lazy Susans are circular, they're well suited to holding rounded or oblong objects such as toiletries like hairspray and lotion and other household items like paper towels or laundry detergent. These turntables come in many styles; while a two tiered lazy Susan by LAMU may be good for holding vials of nail polish and medicine, a model with high walls like the OGGI lazy Susan would be better for storing taller items. There are also options with non-skid bases so items don't slide around. You may even want to consider getting multiple lazy Susans so that you can better categorize and organize the linen closet. As long as you're rearranging things, figure out how to keep linens fresh with a convenient storage solution.

One benefit of using lazy Susans for any sort of storage is that since you can always see what you have in stock, there's a lower chance that you end up buying a duplicate of something. You can also more clearly see how much space you have left to store things, so you may be less inclined to bring home items you don't need. As a bonus, the look of bottles and products stacked on a lazy Susan is a bit more intentional and polished than simply tossing things into the back of a closet. The linen closet will look so good, you may want to ditch the doors for a sleek, alternative look.
