The Dollar Tree DIY Everyone's Trying For A Dreamy Spring Window Suncatcher

There's something quite charming about sunlight shining through raindrop beads falling from a puffy cloud. A DIY beaded suncatcher is a perfect decor project for both kids and adults, and this one from TikToker @mama.casssss is no exception. You can create your own indoor rainbows with this adorable spring suncatcher.  At the time of writing this, everything listed from Dollar Tree for this project is priced at $1.25 each, which makes this a sweet project that won't dent your crafting budget.

To make your suncatcher, you'll need styrofoam balls, such as these Dollar Tree Foam Crafting Balls. The size of the ball will dictate how large your cloud is, so feel free to pick one with dimensions that appeal to you. While you're there, pick up a 100-pack of cotton balls. Using white is perfect for creating clouds. You'll also need Floral Garden Colored Wire and some Crafters Square Glass Bead Sets, both in the colors of your choice.

If you find that the beads are a little too small, you can use bigger ones. Multifaceted beads are likely to catch light more than smooth ones, which makes them a good choice for raindrop sparkles. You'll also need some clear craft fishing line and a hot glue gun. After the project, you can keep your glue gun clean with this handy kitchen staple. If you're doing this craft with your kids, swap out hot glue for white PVA glue, which takes a while to dry but is safe for children.

How to make this beautiful suncatcher

Start making the cloud by cutting the foam ball in half. Decide how long you want the hanger section and cut the wire to double that length. Leave a loop to use for hanging, twist the wire, then fill it up with beads, leaving enough space at the end to secure into the foam cloud. Poke a hole in the top of the cloud, apply a small blob of glue, and insert the wire hanger.

Unroll a few cotton balls and glue them to the curved side of your styrofoam cloud. Leave the cut side open for now. Feel free to overlap the layers until you have a puffy cloud. You can also glue the balls on and fluff them up afterwards, just make sure you glue any loose edges to the cloud securely.

To make raindrops, cut some fishing line, knot the end, and thread your bottom bead, securing it in place by rethreading the top of the line again. Keep adding beads and securing them in this way until you've filled up the line. Repeat this process until you have enough raindrop strings. Glue them into the bottom of the cloud, and glue cotton wool to the open bottom to cover it. Hang it indoors in front of your window or package it in any last-minute gift wrap material you have at home, add a Voila Iridescent Bow Set from Dollar Tree, and put a smile on your friends' faces.
