Curtains are nice to have for a lot of reasons. They help provide privacy, control natural light, and enhance the insulation of a room by reducing the heat lost or gained through windows. They can also contribute to the aesthetic appeal of a space, tying together interior design elements with color, texture, and patterns. Hanging curtains generally requires the use of curtain rods, which are screwed in at both sides of a window's frame. This is not desirable for everyone in certain situations. For instance, some people don't want the hassle of measuring and drilling. Some don't want to put holes in their walls because they are renting, or maybe they are homeowners, but don't want to fool with patching drywall when they change their window fixtures in the future.
Whatever your reason for wanting to avoid using a rod or power tools, you should know that it's totally doable. In fact, there are several ways to hang curtains without power tools or a rod. One of the easiest methods for rodless curtain hanging is using Command Spring Clips. This hack works best with lightweight curtains; however, increasing the number of Command clips you use will increase the curtain weight they can handle. To use this method, choose your curtain placement and clean the wall where the clips will go. Then, press them onto the wall for 30 seconds and clip your curtains. This is a renter-friendly hack since Command strips can be removed from walls without causing damage.

Using upholstery tacks is another super-easy way to hang curtains without drilling or using a rod. You can hold your curtains where you want them over your window and use a hammer to secure the tacks through the fabric and into the wall or window frame. If you like the idea of using tacks, but don't want to damage your curtains by putting holes into them, you can place extra-long upholstery tacks above your window, connect thin metal shower curtain rings through your curtain's ring holes, and hang them from the tacks. This, of course, would not work with curtains that don't have ring holes.
Another way to use upholstery tacks is by attaching them at various points above a window. Then, run a thin rope along the length of the window, making a loop around each tack. Tie the rope off at the final tack. Finally, attach shower curtain rings to the curtains and hang them on the rope. You could also use wire instead of rope for this idea.
Lastly, you can use VELCRO hook and loop tape and VELCRO sew-on fasteners to hang your curtains. For this hack, you just need to clean the wall where the curtains will hang and apply the hook and loop tape. Use a needle and thread or sewing machine to attach the sew-on fasteners to your curtains and then attach your curtains to the hook and loop tape on the wall.
