Are you wondering how to add a little sparkle to your wall without the hassle of paint or wallpaper? With a simple DIY, you can create a one-of-a-kind accent wall using some pre-made shimmering panels. These are typically used to decorate for parties, but who said every day shouldn't be a party? Easily transform any dull wall into a piece of art that catches the light, brightens up the mood, and can even create a fun backdrop for selfies.

The idea for this DIY is to use a set of small sparkly panels to cover the entire wall. For example, this 24-pack of square sequin shimmer panels from Cokaobe is available in tons of colors like holographic, light pink, gold, or even white. Some darker shades are also available, although they can be trickier to blend into your interior design. These panels are designed to hook onto each other, so you only need to attach a top row to the wall. This means you won't need to drill, glue, or stick each individual piece to the wall. To attach that first row to the wall, you'll need simple nails and a hammer, or a set of 3M command strips. The latter is renter-friendly since you can remove command strips with minimal damage to your walls.

How to attach sparkly panels to your wall

Start this DIY by attaching a first row of panels at the top of your wall along the ceiling. To do this, you can add a command strip at the center of each panel. Another option is to hammer a nail into the wall, close to the ceiling, to then rest the plastic frame of the panel onto it. To align the panels more closely with the ceiling, you can clip off the plastic tabs at the top of these first panels, like in the video. Some pliers should be enough to snap these right off without too much effort.

Once your first row of panels is attached to the wall, simply use the pre-made plastic tabs to hook a second row underneath. Repeat until the last row of shimmering panels nearly touches the floor. To make the installation sturdier and more long-lasting, use some zip ties to attach panels to each other vertically and horizontally. That way, even a gust of wind from an open window won't be able to ruffle your accent wall.

And if you'd like to cover more wall space, get more packs of sparkly wall panels and attach them using the same method. You can also buy different colors to alternate them and create a checkered pattern or even some stripes. Or, choose the right wallpaper for your accent wall to make the shimmer pop. Alternatively, you can add glitter to your paint for a complete sparkly makeover.
