Turn Dollar Tree Candle Holders Into Luxe-Looking Solar Lights
Illuminating your garden, highlighting pathways, and lighting your hardscapes — these are just a few reasons why you need outdoor solar lights for your yard. Although the benefits are many, quality, stylish solar lights can be quite expensive — often costing upwards of $100 for just two to four lights. But with a few dollar store items and a crafty attitude you can easily take on a DIY that gives Dollar Tree solar lights a stunning upgrade for a fraction of the cost.
There are two variations of this DIY one that uses stoneware pillar candle pedestals and another that uses tall black iron candle holders. Ultimately, the type of candle holder you use is up to you and your personal aesthetic preferences. If using the stoneware pillars you will also need E6000 glue and some simple Dollar Tree solar lights. For the tall black iron candle holders, you will need E6000 glue, bell-shaped ceiling fan light covers, and some solar cylinder stake lights. Both of these DIY projects come together in just a few minutes and are an excellent way to add a personal touch to your yard.
How to turn dollar store candle holders into beautiful solar lights
For the first version of this DIY you will create three lights using six of the stoneware pillar candle holders. For the first light, glue three pillars together ensuring the hole for the candle is accessible. The next light will be made of two pillars and the final light will be made with just one. Once your pillars are securely glued together, you can glue your solar lights to the top of each pillar. If your light has a ground stake, carefully remove that before attaching.
For the second version of this DIY, you will start by gluing the ceiling fan light covers to your tall black iron candle holders with the wider side facing up. Then, remove the ground stake from your solar lights and use the E6000 to glue the lights in place inside of the ceiling fan light covers. Now you have two beautiful DIYs that will light up your backyard patio for summer nights. If you're looking to customize these lights you can try spray painting the candle holders a color of your choice. Or, for a fairy garden feel, add some embellishments to the outer portion of each light such as dried flowers or fake butterflies.
