Aldi Is Selling Two Totally Affordable Garden Trellises - Are They Worth Their Low Price Tag?

As you wander between raised beds of fresh produce, you might think to yourself that the space needs a little something to make it all the more inviting and practical. Vertical planting with trellises is one method to achieve this, and if you want to do it on a budget, Aldi is selling two affordable garden trellises that could be just what you need. The Belavi Round Basic Trellis and the Belavi Square Bird Trellis are the 2025 Aldi garden trellises that are gaining traction for their low price tags. 

While there are several DIY and unique trellis ideas to maximize your outdoor space, some of these projects can become quite costly. Large trellises in shapes like A-frames or garden arches can squeeze your wallet as you work to find the best pieces for your backyard garden. That's why Aldi's trellises caught our attention. With their low prices and decent quality, they could be a good fit for a small backyard garden or as a gorgeous piece of decor amidst your perennial flowers. Further, they can be a good starting point for enhancing your garden. After all, there are several reasons to use a trellis to give your plants support, such as preventing them from disease and rot or giving them more access to sunlight in order to ripen on the vine.

Aldi currently offers two garden trellises in their gardening and accessory section, Belavi. The first is the Belavi Round Basic Trellis, which retails for $8.99 on the Aldi website. This trellis is 12 inches by 28.6 inches and features a quaint swirl and diamond design of thin, criss-crossing metal. The second trellis from Aldi is the Belavi Square Bird Trellis, which also retails for $8.99. The trellis is 12 inches by 28.6 inches and has an arched top with asymmetrical swirls vining across the expanse of the trellis. It also has small, two-dimensional metal bird silhouettes perched on some of the swirls. Both products are labeled as rust-resistant with a powder coating. Due to their height and slim metal, these trellises could be ideal for flowering plants and non-aggressive vines like American Wisteria or Coral Honeysuckle.

In 2022, Aldi Reviewer purchased a similar product from the Belavi line and offered their praise for the trellis. The reviewer noted that the trellis was a charming, functional, and "sturdy" addition to their garden. The satisfied Aldi customer also shared that previous Aldi trellises were winners too, noting that they held up over time. Alternatively, if you're looking for a similar trellis with good reviews, Lowe's sells a nearly identical trellis to the Belavi Round Basic Trellis, priced at $13.28. The dimensions are slightly different, with the Lowe's version being 48 inches in height.

The Aldi trellises are adored for their affordability, but they do have some drawbacks. First, the trellis designs may not be the most ideal for a vegetable garden, as horticulture experts recommend fencing with holes that do not exceed 4 inches. This is because climbers need something to grab onto, and smaller spacing makes for better plant reach. The Belavi Square Bird Trellis appears to have some large gaps, which could impact plant climbing. Additionally, these Aldi trellises are small and compact compared to typical garden trellises. Anyone who's tried to nail the perfect measurements on your garden arch trellis knows most range from 4 to 7 feet in height. Standing at under 3 feet, the Aldi trellises are not ideal for large, sprawling gardens. However, patio and balcony gardeners might favor the small stature to better suit their spaces or to prop up inside planter pots.

Another concern is that the Aldi trellises may not be tall enough to stake properly, which could prevent heavier plants like cucumbers or squash from growing on them. Experts recommend staking your trellises by burying roughly ⅕  of the height. For example, a 5-foot stake would be buried a foot deep. This would make the already small Aldi trellis even smaller. Though if you're working in a tiny space or want to incorporate a decorative element to your garden, these Aldi trellises are super affordable and could be worth it.
