Keep Your Rings Organized With A Dollar Tree Picture Frame DIY

Jewelry storage can create a conundrum for those with a large collection. Although rings and earrings are small, storing them can take up a lot of space. Instead of throwing them into a box together, it's best to display each piece. Not only is it aesthetically pleasing, but it keeps sets together and helps you find the right pieces quickly. More importantly, fake jewelry can tarnish and pass discoloration to other jewelry it touches — even real gold — so separating them is essential.

While you may splurge occasionally when it comes to jewelry, you probably don't want to spend much when it comes to jewelry organization. Fortunately, there's an easy and affordable Dollar Tree DIY that creates a lovely display for your rings. This jewelry organizer uses a picture frame as a base, giving you vertical storage that won't take up space on your dresser.

There are only a few Dollar Tree items you need to perfectly organize your ring collection. You'll need two 10-packs of Pink Foam Hair Rollers, one 5x7 Special Moments Contemporary Matte Black Photo Frame, a Crafter's Square Felt Roll in the color of your choice, and a hot glue gun. Each item is only $1.25, bringing the total for the DIY to a whopping $5 (minus the glue gun).

How to make a photo frame ring organizer

Start by taking apart the photo frame and removing the plastic parts from the foam rollers. Place a thin line of hot glue along the top/back of the cardboard part of the frame, and glue your fabric so that it drapes across the front, Don't cut the fabric to fit the frame yet — you will need more than you think. Glue two rollers across the top of the cardboard, then cover the rollers with the fabric and hot glue it in place. Glue rollers and cover with the fabric all the way down the board, creating eight horizontal rows of fluting. Glue the fabric down to cover the sides of the rollers and cut off any excess. Place the black frame cover (minus the glass and white mat) over the rollers, which will hold it firmly in place. Organize your rings by sticking them between two rows of curlers.

This project will work with any 5x7 frame, so if using Dollar Tree picture frames doesn't set your heart alight, you can use a frame you already own that matches your bedroom decor. You can also paint the Dollar Tree frame your favorite color, or wrap it in baker's twine or nautical rope for a rustic feel. This makes an excellent gift for teens, so adding some glitter or a monogram to the top is also encouraged! Just remember to decorate the frame before you begin assembling your ring organizer.
