Organize & Display Your Sunglasses With A Simple Dollar Tree Picture Frame DIY

With swanky designs like leopard print and sleek aviator, today's sunglasses are more than eye protection. They're almost works of art. As such, they deserve to be displayed prominently between wears, and one practical way to do this is to create a framed display, made from some 8-by-10-inch Dollar Tree photo frames and a few self-adhesive hooks. Practically speaking, this is just the type of display that deserves a spot right in the entryway of your house or apartment. It ensures that you'll never leave without your sunglasses nor one last peek at your eyes (and possibly, your lip gloss) before heading out into the world.

To pull off this DIY, you'll want at least one Dollar Tree frame as well as a beveled mirror of the same size. You're going to dress the frame up a bit so it matches your decor. You can use some leftover scrap fabric or wallpaper if you have some. Otherwise, you'll want to purchase enough fabric to cover the frame's cardboard back. From a style perspective, this display is a chic way to add some pattern matching to a space if that's the aesthetic you've embraced in your home.

This Dollar Tree picture frame storage project also requires a 12-pack of Tool Bench mini self-adhesive wall hooks. A pair of scissors to trim the fabric or paper is also needed. The cost of this project will vary, depending on how many photo frames you use. That said, you'll likely be set back less than $20 even if you convert several photo frames into framed sunglasses holders.

Putting the sunglasses display together

Start this project by pulling apart the photo frame and removing the stand from the back and the glass in front. You'll trim the fabric so that there's enough to cover the inside of the frame where the picture would go. If you've gone with the 8-by-10-inch frame, you'll have enough room to place six hooks onto the front, right on top of the fabric. You'll do three parallel rows of hooks with two in each row. Make sure that you leave enough room between rows so that the tops and bottoms of the sunglasses don't touch the glasses in the row above or below them. Next, hang your frames on the wall with the beveled mirror placed conveniently between them.

To make this display more visually interesting, try mixing and matching the shapes in the arrangement. For example, since you'll likely choose rectangular or square-shaped picture frames for this Dollar Tree DIY, consider swapping out the rectangular mirror for one of Dollar Tree's circular mirrors. Or add some texture by going with a couple of different styles of photo frames that feature textures like faux wood, honeycomb, and plain. Finally, if you'd like to have just one statement piece, swap out the 8-by-10-inch frame and replace it with this longer three-picture collage frame. Flank this frame with a couple of round mirrors to create some asymmetrical visual balance in your sunglasses arrangement.
