As a potential catch-all for items like jewelry, skincare items, and even Q-tip containers, your bathroom vanity has the potential to get quickly cluttered. Fortunately, a cheap Dollar Tree hack allows you to repurpose your picture frames (or even remake some new ones) to create a place where you can stash necklaces, extra pairs of sunglasses, headbands, and hair ties. The DIY you'll make to solve your clutter problem is one that literally stands on its own and matches most decor styles.

To start this DIY, you'll just need a couple of items, which will help you solve some of your potentially overwhelming clutter. The base of the miniature storage stand is constructed from a Dollar Tree clear plastic borderless picture frame. If you're not familiar with it, it's the kind that allows you to slip your photos in between two slats of clear plastic. You'll also need some Tool Tree mini self-adhesive hooks, which you can also find at Dollar Tree.

The number of clear plastic picture frames and packages of plastic hooks will vary, depending on how many of these you want to make. That said, if you create the most basic version of this project, you're unlikely to be out more $5 or $6. If you have a minimalist setup in your bathroom, this slick and simple design will blend in with the rest of the room's surroundings.

Putting the vanity organizer together

In the simplest form, this project calls for you to place the self-adhesive hooks onto the front of the free-standing plastic photo frame. If you'd like to stash three sets of sunglasses, for example, you'd need to place six hooks, lined up two by two, onto the front of the frame. For necklaces or headbands, you'd need a row of single hooks. On average, most people own around 10 necklaces, so you might need just one pack of the self-adhesive hooks.

However, if you're planning on storing plastic headbands on this, you'd need only a couple of single hooks placed down the upper-middle portion of the frame. This gives you some room on the outer edges of the frame to accommodate the width of the headbands. You also don't want to place those hooks too low on this one because if the hooks go too low on the frame, the headbands won't need to hang on the hooks. They'll stand up by themselves, propped by the frame.

If you'd like other ways to elevate your bathroom vanity with this DIY, slide a piece of scrap wallpaper into the frame to make it look more decorative. The Crafter's Square vellum paper with butterflies or hearts on it also offers you some options to make this piece look more attractive. Switching out the style of hooks is another way to personalize the frame even more. These heart-shaped adhesive hooks from DGYB Store or FOTYRIG stainless steel hooks are great alternatives if you don't mind adding a little more money — about $7 or $9 — into this DIY project.
