Elevate Your Surfaces With This DIY Floating Candle Holder

Candles are key for creating a beautiful atmosphere. Not only do they often smell fantastic, but they offer a unique form of light that feels intimate and romantic. Floating candle holders in particular add a cozy feel and have become a staple centerpiece for luxury events, such as weddings, birthdays, and any other luxury celebration. They can easily be tailored to your celebration by using different vases, LED lights, and accessories to create a centerpiece that's totally unique to you. You also don't have to save this DIY for a special occasion — using a floating candle holder to decorate a coffee table or any other plain surface is a great way of elevating an uninspiring space.

Here's what you'll need to create a DIY floating candle holder: PVC pipe coupling for the base, a glass vase to fit on top of your pipe, a battery-powered LED light, a glue gun, and any other accessories you'd like to add. Overall, this is a very affordable DIY and will take a matter of minutes to complete, especially if you're feeling thrifty and decide to pick up your vase and accessories second hand.

How to make a floating DIY candle holder

Take your PVC pipe coupling and pop your portable LED light inside it. Use a glue gun to outline the rim of your coupling, which will then enable your jar to stick to it. Don't worry about when your LED light runs out of battery. Because the pipe doesn't have a base, you can easily access it through the bottom. Fill your glass vase three quarters of the way with cool water, add your accessories, then carefully drop in your floating candle.

There are lots of different bits and bobs you can add to your floating candle holder to customize it. For example, a handful of water beads in a color of your choice can look really effective. Or, if you're planning an event for a particular season, you can decorate your candle holder with seasonal produce. We're thinking lemons would be lovely for summer, and winter berries would perfectly suit a Christmas themed event.

Another beautiful addition would be flowers — you can use real or faux, it's totally up to you. A flurry of rose petals and sprigs of eucalyptus look utterly romantic and are ideal for a wedding or for a romantic evening at home.
