A good storage rack can make a world of difference in your home. From the kitchen pantry to your work-from-home desk and several spaces in between, using a storage rack to keep your items neat, organized, and easily accessible can save you a lot of time and effort. And while there are countless tabletop shelves available to buy online, most are limited to neutral colors like black, white, or natural wood grain. If your style is a little more colorful than that, then this Dollar Tree DIY storage rack might be just what you're looking for. Using some plastic letter trays alongside a few fun accessories, you can give new life to a basic tray with this chic DIY.
The main features that set this organizer apart from other Dollar Tree DIYs that make the most of your space are the colorful Assorted Jot Iridescent Letter Trays. In addition to adding fun pop of color, these trays reflect light beautifully and are a quick way to spice up any area in your home. To complete the DIY, you will also need Dollar Tree's Stackable Acrylic Wine Bottle Holders, Storage Essentials Organizers, and Iridescent Plastic Pen Holders. With these materials, you can create a cute yet efficient storage rack — though there are so many fun ways to customize it and make it unique using other items, too.
How to assemble the storage rack
One of the best parts about this DIY is that there are several approaches to assembling the racks. For a basic version, take one of the letter trays and place it upside down on your desk or wherever you plan to use the storage. Then, place three of the wine bottle holders across the tray horizontally. Next, set another letter tray, right-side-up, on top of the wine bottle holders. And finally, fill the top tray with organizers. In a pinch, a Dollar Tree wire napkin holder is a great addition and can be used to hold mail, stationery, or other supplies. While it's not needed, feel free to use glue to secure the storage rack if you find it's too wobbly.
If you're looking for something a little sturdier, ditch the plastic trays for NiOffice Acrylic Iridescent Letter Trays instead. While they cost quite a bit more, the acrylic provides a nice solid base for your storage tray. Want to save money rather than spend more? Consider DIYing the letter trays using cardboard and simply covering them in LeZakaa Iridescent Wrapping Paper for a similar but thriftier option. This is a smart way to repurpose cardboard boxes after a move.
For a taller version of the same storage rack, swap out the wine bottle holders for Dollar Tree Wire Cabinet Shelves. Place the wire shelves between two to three trays to create more space for taller items like lotion and perfume bottles. Because of the added height, using some glue to secure them is recommended. Alternatively, you can also use tray stacking posts to attach your paper trays together and give the storage rack height without needing glue.
