For homeowners who have a green thumb, keeping a safe and adequate home for your houseplants can be just as important as maintaining your own home. Regular planter boxes come in many shapes, colors, and sizes, but can be more function than fashion. While practicality is necessary to maintain healthy plants, there are many ways to take your planters from boring to beautiful, making them more visually appealing and in line with your current home aesthetic. Painting, bedazzling, or utilizing plant hangers are great ideas for sprucing up planters. You can also make a new home for your indoor garden by repurposing common household items that you can turn into beautiful planters. Alternatively, you can go the extra mile for your greenery by following a unique approach that creates a chic and versatile round planter with a super affordable DIY.

All you'll need for this simple project are two circular wooden boards, paint, rattan webbing, and an appropriate heavy-duty glue, such as wood glue or, for more strength, epoxy. Additional decorative items are optional if you want to further spruce up your planter. The final cost of this DIY is dependent on the size of your project. For instance, a 3-pack of Woodpeckers 8-Inch Wood Circles goes for $8.99 on Amazon, while three Artificer 18-Inch Round Wooden Discs sell for $32.99. Meanwhile, rolls of webbing, such as SIEAIGOO Rattan Webbing, can be found for $16.99. After purchasing your materials, the overall assembly of your chic, round, and multifunctional plant home is quite simple!

Assemble your chic and versatile round planter

You'll start this DIY project by painting the round wooden boards the color of your choice. Paint both sides evenly and allow adequate drying time. Once the boards are painted and dried, you can freestyle paint or draw patterns on one or both sides to add a personalized touch to your planter. You could also use stencils to customize the surfaces or add stickers, jewels, and other decorations. If you want to keep it simple, you can choose to leave the sides just painted, and let the rattan webbing take center stage of the design. Rattan webbing is a key element to the planter, as it allows the plants placed inside it to breathe.

With the paint and design complete, you'll now attach the webbing to your wooden boards. To do so, stick both round boards into a foam block, or prop them onto a secure and sturdy surface so you can measure and attach the rattan accurately. Align the rattan webbing along the outside of the boards, measuring and cutting enough to cover at least half of your circle. Glue the webbing along the edges of both wooden boards to secure the pieces together. Allow ample time for the glue to set and dry, and voila! You now have a chic and versatile round new home for your plants. If the round planter is a little too unstable, glue these 2.5-inch Craftwood Cubes to both sides to prevent it from rolling. If you later repot your houseplants and find your hand-crafted plant home vacant, no worries! You can still use it as additional storage, a bookshelf, or find other handy ways to repurpose planters inside and outside your home.
