DIY A Cottagecore Moss Wreath With A Few Affordable Dollar Tree Finds

Whether it's a special occasion or simply a change in season, we can utilize wreaths to celebrate in cozy style. Wreaths are ideal for the cottagecore aesthetic, which, according to the ultimate guide to cottagecore decor, is all about slowing down, living simply, and surrounding ourselves with natural items. Creating a wreath that celebrates the heart of cottagecore but lasts longer than clippings from the garden is possible — you just need a couple of Dollar Store items.

To DIY your own Dollar Tree wreath, you'll need approximately 15 moss balls and a Floral Garden Metal Wreath Form. Use a wire cutter to clip out the inner circle of wire and snip it open. The moss balls are stubborn about being threaded onto the wire, so use a spike or screwdriver to make a hole all the way through. Feed all of them onto the wire. Close the wire loop by threading two ends into a moss ball, which will hold it in place. Make sure the balls cover the wire all the way around the circle.

To soften the gaps between the moss balls, hot glue some Spanish moss around the joins. For an earthy, natural wreath, tie a bow from burlap fabric, or use Floral Garden Polyester Burlap Ribbon and glue the bow at the bottom of the wreath. You can also create the bow from fabric that picks up on the colors of the room for a sweet tie-in.

Moss ball wreaths to suit every season

Once you've finished your DIY, it's time to hang it up. Why not consider some fun places to hang your fall wreath that isn't your front door? Inside your entryway, over a mantelpiece, or suspended in a kitchen window are all options. The fun doesn't stop there as you get to play with the decor around the wreath to create a whole mood. DIY cute cottagecore mirrors with some Dollar Tree supplies to strengthen that rustic feeling.

The basic moss ball wreath is adaptable and versatile. With a few simple changes, you can adapt the basic wreath design to suit any occasion. Leave the Spanish moss off and wrap a string of fairy lights all around the wreath to add a magical glow after dark. Dollar Tree butterflies add whimsy that's perfect for a little girl's room while staying true to the nature-focused essence of cottagecore. With a few quick sprays of fake snow and some poinsettia leaves, your wreath is cottagecore Christmas-ready!

If your nearest Dollar Tree is out of stock of the garden metal wreath forms, Green Foam Floral Rings will work too. Instead of threading the moss balls onto the ring, buy a few more packets and cover the surface of the ring. The result will be gloriously chunky, with plenty of indentations that you can fill with seasonal decor, such as Crafters Square Burlap Leaves for fall. For a sleeker wreath, switch moss balls for regular Floral Garden Moss.
