The Dollar Tree DIY That Dupes Pottery Barn's Chic Pumpkin Wreath (For A Fraction Of The Cost)
For us crafters, Pottery Barn can be a source of inspiration for autumn decor. Take its $89 fall mini pumpkin door wreath. What we love is the simplicity of it — just three large rows of mini pumpkins sitting in an endlessly delicious fall-colored orange loop. But since we're crafters, and crafting is in our blood, we'd much rather make a Dollar Tree dupe of it for a whole lot less money and a whole lot more crafting fun. It's an adorable Dollar Tree DIY to get your home ready for fall.
With this craft, there's no need to reinvent the wheel — pun intended. You'll start with a Dollar Tree 18-inch Metal Wreath Form. The budget-craft store also carries smaller sizes of these. However, the larger wreath is the way to go if you want to make maximum impact on your trick-or-treaters or Thanksgiving guests, even before they reach the door. In other words, it's big enough to be seen from the curb. It's a simple and creative way to increase your home's curb appeal with decor.
This DIY decor also calls for a couple dozen mini pumpkins. Try Dollar Tree's Flocked Orange Pumpkin Garland for this. There are nine pumpkins in each garland, giving you a bigger bang for your buck per package. Grab five or six packages. This should give you enough pumpkins to fill the whole wreath with some wiggle room. You'll also need a pair of scissors and a hot glue gun. Finally, the DIY pumpkin wreath calls for some Crafters Square Mini Clothespins, also found at the Dollar Tree, to hold everything together.
Assembling the Pottery Barn pumpkin wreath dupe
A good portion of the labor on this project involves gluing. You'll clip the mini pumpkins to the wreath. However, in their original form, they're not clip-ons. They're a part of a Halloween garland. You'll need to cut all of the pumpkins off of their garland string so that they're stand-alone items. They'll become wreath-ready once you glue one of the mini clothespins on the bottom (in the middle) of most of them. These will go onto the center wire of the wreath.
For the outer rings of the wreath, the clips' position needs to be slightly different. Glue the clips on the bottom edge of the pumpkin. This gives them enough room to squeeze in between all of the pumpkins on the center wire. Clip all of the pumpkins onto the wreath until the whole thing is covered with mini gourds.
Once it's filled with pumpkins, the wreath is ready to go. However, there are ways to personalize it a bit. Swap out some of the orange garland pumpkins for Dollar Tree's Seasonal Collection Sweater Pumpkin clips. These add more color and texture to the wreath. You can also introduce a little pattern to the display by hand-painting designs, like checkerboards, on some of the pumpkins. Augment the designs with some patterned holiday-themed embellishments like these Crafters Square Halloween Ribbon and Thanksgiving Crafters Square Seasonal Collection Ribbon from Dollar Tree. Finally, light it up with some small battery-operated fairy lights to make your front porch glow and to boost the mood . This is the perfect DIY project to decorate your home on a budget on this fall.
