For some of us, paper towel rolls are kinda baffling. It's not that we don't know how to use them. We do. What troubles us is what to do with the big pack of extra paper towels that aren't on the paper towel dispenser. Leaving them in the package doesn't look good. And really, it's not the most efficient use of space to just leave them in a big lump on top of a closet or cabinet. Thankfully, with just a few Dollar Tree essentials, like bungee cords and a couple of over-the-door hooks, you'll add more storage to your kitchen for these paper towels. More importantly, you'll stop storing paper towel packs on top of your cabinets once and for all.

A 10-piece bag of Tool Bench bungee cords at Dollar Tree comes with cords that are 24 inches, 36 inches, and 48 inches long. For this project, you'll need at least two bungee cords, so go with the longest cords in the bag. You'll also need over-the-door hooks. The Dollar Tree Essentials over-the-door hanger brand items come with six over-the-door hooks on one bar. If you'd like the single hooks due to space constraints, Amazon's Optish over-the-door hooks are a good alternative.

It's worth mentioning that the number of supplies you need for this bungee cord storage hack might need to be doubled or tripled. It all depends on how many rooms you'd like to outfit with this idea. For example, if you'd like similar set-ups in the bathroom or in your outdoor tool shop, you'll need to buy enough supplies to set this system up in each of those rooms.

Setting up the bungee cord storage system

This easy storage hack is simple to set up. Start the build process by placing two over-the-door hooks over the top of a door. For example, if you're setting this up in the kitchen, hang the hooks over the pantry door. Follow that step by attaching two long bungee cords to the over-the-door hooks. Next, take another set of hooks and place them at the bottom of the door. Basically, you're doing the reverse of what you did at the top. You might want to use an adhesive to secure these bottom hooks so they don't fall off. After that, hook the free ends of the two bungee cords connected to the top hooks to the ones at the bottom of the door. Now, fill the space between the door and cords with rolls of paper towels. Just slide the paper towels under the two bungee cords, starting at the bottom, until they're all put away. If you're using this hack in the bathroom, stash toilet paper under the cord in a way that each cord holds a single roll of toilet tissue.

Finally, you're not limited to paper towels and TP storage here. For example, you can roll up kitchen or bath towels and store them under the cords in the same way you did the paper towels. Or use this idea to tuck yoga mats in your workout room. And it's also a good system to set up in an RV. When the vehicle's in motion, things in the cupboards get jumbled around, but a system like this will help prevent that. Just find a suitable door in your RV and set up the storage hack there.
