The Simple Swap David Bromstad Recommends To Add A Touch Of Glam To A Space
On HGTV's "My Lottery Dream Home," David Bromstad hunts for the perfect nests for lucky lottery winners. Stunning options can range from extraordinary mansions to modest seaside homes, based on the unique needs and circumstances of his clients. Needless to say, the interior designer knows a thing or two about adding glamorous touches to a space, or, in the case of an episode of "My Lottery Dream Home," what simple adjustments can make it a little more classy, like switching out modern kitchen light fixtures for crystal chandeliers.
In the episode, Bromstad helped first-time homeowners find their ultimate dream home. The single-story, four-bedroom house, which he named the "Fletcher House," had three-and-a-half bathrooms and was 2,700 square feet. Inside the home, Bromstad showed the couple a spacious, open-concept living room area that led up to a charming kitchen. It featured gray cabinetry and walls, and modern appliances and fixtures, including white pendant lights. That was when he recommended that the couple install a crystal chandelier for a touch of glam, instead.
How to style a crystal chandelier in your home
This isn't the first time that the HGTV star has employed this elegant lighting solution. "There is a secret to adding instant sophistication and glamor to any room and that is to install a crystal chandelier," Bromstad explained in an episode of "Color Splash" on HGTV Asia. And although they're typically used in dining rooms, a crystal chandelier can be a stylish statement lighting idea to brighten up different areas of the home. "They're not just for dining rooms anymore. They can be used in living rooms, bedrooms, and even bathrooms," he continued in the episode. Once you decide on the placement of the chandelier, consider the size and scale of the space you want to incorporate a crystal chandelier in.
Next, you want to think about your overall interior design style and, more specifically, the style of the room. Luckily, there are a variety of different styles of crystal chandeliers. "They go with every style that you're trying to recreate, from modern to traditional," explained Bromstad. If you're incorporating a crystal chandelier in your traditional or rustic-style living room, for example, you might opt for a chandelier fixture that uses aged brass, or a candle-style chandelier or antler-style chandelier. Tie in the look by using metal finishes that are complementary to the hardware used in the space. In a modern home, you'll want a simpler, less ornate crystal chandelier that complements contemporary decor.
