From spooky costumes to chilling home decor, Halloween gives you the opportunity to make use of your imagination and creativity. It's a good idea to take the DIY approach to the holiday to really make the most of it. Crafting your own home decor is the perfect way to put your DIY skills to the test. One cheap and easy Halloween home decor project worth trying out is a light-up witch cauldron. To complete this project, you'll first need to paint plastic skeleton hands and a clear glass or plastic globe. You can then glue the hands around a tall candle holder and set the globe on top of it. Set a string of lights inside the globe so that they are visible from the outside.
When you're done, your DIY will resemble a witch's hands holding up a glowing cauldron. Of course, you can also customize this DIY however you'd like to make it even spookier. Feel free to incorporate fun additions. For example, you can wrap mesh around the bowl to mimic spider webs or glue on plastic spiders. If you're unsure of where to place this Halloween light display, consider using it as a table centerpiece. You could also display it on your porch near your front door if the weather permits. The DIY piece would even work well as a Halloween-themed night light for a bedroom.
What you need to know about this Halloween DIY
The base of this spooky fall decor DIY is the tall candle holder shown in the video that will be used to hold everything up. Thrift one or purchase the Etistta Halloween pumpkin candle holder to use instead for additional Halloween flair. Snag the bubble ball vase from Dollar Tree for only $3.00 to use as your cauldron. As for the skeleton hands shown in the clip, they are not available on Dollar Tree's website at the time of this writing. As an alternative, you could use the human skeleton hand decor from Dollar Tree. Since these hands do not have the longer attached arm portion like those shown in the video, you will just need to attach them a bit higher up and leave enough space for the globe in the middle. Or, you could grab two of the Greenbier skeleton tongs and cut them down to size if needed.
As for the DIY, start out by applying your bat or other desired sticker shapes to the inside of the bowl. You can then lightly spray paint the inside of your bowl and the hands, and allow for drying time. Once everything has dried, remove the stickers and then proceed with the assembly. To simplify the process and increase stability, consider hot gluing the black fabric onto the bottom of the hands rather than using a zip tie. You can then use hot glue to attach the plastic hands and the glass bowl to the candle holder. Finish off by placing a string of lights in a fun color inside the bowl. The topper the creator added is completely optional, so consider switching it out with a witch hat to stay on theme.
