This IKEA Kitchen Essential Has An Interior Designer 'Very impressed'—Here's Why

IKEA is a go-to for affordable kitchen essentials to help save money. However, shopping at the popular retailer does require quite a bit of discernment because it tends to be hit or miss. Thankfully, you can always turn to the internet for reviews and recommendations to help guide your shopping decisions. There's one IKEA kitchen essential in particular that interior designer and social media content creator Phoenix Orion Grey is a major fan of. Grey took to Instagram to rave about this item, which is the DELSJÖN faucet.

While reviewing the faucets in-store, the interior designer highlighted the three chic finishes it comes in. This includes brass, pewter, and brushed black. The finishes look high-end, but these faucets are actually super affordable given their impressive design. The pewter DELSJÖN kitchen faucet is the least expensive at only $86, while the brushed black metal is the second most affordable, with a price tag of $99.

Lastly, the brass finish option costs $109. Although this is the most expensive faucet within the line, it is still far more affordable than similar designs offered by other retailers. For example, the KOHLER Kitchen Faucet in Vibrant Brushed Moderne Brass is sold by Home Depot for a steep $625.31. By comparison, the DELSJÖN faucet is budget-friendly and stylish. It's no surprise the professional designer suggests splurging on this kitchen feature.

As Phoenix Orion Grey described in his video, IKEA's DELSJÖN faucet looks chic despite its low price. "This brass isn't super yellow, so it looks more expensive," he explains. Meanwhile, the pewter version is "coming in hot," according to Grey, and works in a variety of spaces. He then praises the brushed black finish, noting, "It's going to hide more fingerprints and it won't show as much water buildup as your matte black will." 

Aesthetics aside, the product offers notable functional features as well. To help manage water flow, an aerator is integrated into the faucet. This results in less water and energy use overall. Additionally, ceramic discs were installed inside the faucet to better handle the increased friction that occurs when you switch from hot to cold water or vice versa.

Despite these perks, there is a potential downside to the IKEA DELSJÖN faucet that you should be aware of. A customer took to the reviews to disclose a design issue that interfered with installation. "The mounting feature of the sink is a thin threaded rod that is asymmetric/offset relative to the base," they penned. "When following the [installation] procedure through an IKEA countertop, the mounting force pulls the faucet to one side, resulting in leaning of the faucet. Design flaw!" The faucet does have a 4.3-star review overall, so it seems that most customers are satisfied with the product. Positive reviews actually praised the easy installation process. Still, it's up to you to decide whether the interior designer-approved kitchen faucet is the best fit for your home.
