For Less Than Half The Price, IKEA's Christmas Cookie Jar Rivals Pottery Barn's

Special sweet treats are a part of what makes Christmas so jolly, and having a cute, on-theme cookie jar for your baked goods only adds to the spirit of the season. If gnomes are a big part of your holiday decor, then Pottery Barn's Gnome Ceramic Cookie Jar might seem like a must-have addition to your Christmas spread. However, for those trying to decorate for Christmas on a budget, the $89 price tag is quite the deterrent. Even the current sale price of $71 isn't going to work for most households. Luckily, it's pretty easy to find affordable dupes for just about anything these days, and this precious holiday cookie jar is no exception.

At IKEA, the VINTERFINT Santa Claus Jar with Lid isn't an exact match, but it brings the same sort of minimalist, beard-forward energy as the Pottery Barn jar. And at $17.99, it's only a fraction of the cost. Saving approximately $70 on a cookie jar is great; however, there are some differences between the two products that are worth noting.

Is IKEA's Santa cookie jar worth the savings?

The Pottery Barn cookie jar measures 8.25 inches by 13 inches and has a lid diameter of 8 inches. In total, the gnome-themed jar can hold 5.25 quarts' worth of treats. The IKEA cookie jar is a bit smaller, standing 9 inches tall and boasting a lid diameter of 5 inches. The Santa-themed jar holds less as well, with room for 34 ounces, or roughly 1 quart, of treats.

However, the IKEA jar's smaller size isn't necessarily a bad thing, especially if you're trying to decorate a small apartment for Christmas and don't have a lot of space to work with. You may also want to consider the rest of the VINTERFINT collection at IKEA, which features a matching snowperson cookie jar, storage tins, and various minimal decorations. If you purchased one Santa cookie jar, one snowperson cookie jar, one set of storage tins, and one of the other decorations from IKEA's VINTERFINT collection, it would still cost less than the single gnome jar at Pottery Barn.

Ultimately, it's hard to beat the price difference. However, if you're still not sure if IKEA's Pottery Barn dupe is worth it, there are almost always vintage cookie jars that are worth looking for when thrifting. You could also DIY your own gnome cookie jar to save a few dollars.
