How Target's Major Shopping Update May Help You Save On Home And Garden Items
We may receive a commission on purchases made from links.
Target is bringing big savings to customers shopping for home and garden items in the holiday season. In their sales press release, Target announced that they would be changing the game this year with a twist on its famous price match savings. Instead of price matching with other stores, Target transitioned to price matching its own nationwide prices earlier this year. That meant that customers can no longer price match with ads from other retailers like Walmart, but they can price match with other Target stores or online prices. Their holiday price match promotion is similar, but with one major benefit: the time frame. Beginning on November 1 and continuing until Christmas, Target customers can request a price match on any item if its price changes, which could mean big savings on home and garden items. In other words, if you bought an item earlier in November, but see that it is on sale for Black Friday, you can still get the discount!
Did you know there are codes you should know to save money at Target every time you shop? The numbers on a price tag will tell you when items are at their best prices, based on Target's markdown system. Home items are one of the biggest categories for discounts at Target in November, so it is arguably the best time of year to pick up home decor items, furniture, and even bedding.
How to request a price match for the best home and garden deals at Target
If you've been stressing out about how to decorate your home on a budget, Target's price match deal for the 2025 holiday season may be the answer. Of course, there are pros and cons of buying home decor at Target, but the holiday savings are definitely a pro. The official Target price change policy states, "Starting November 1, 2025, if you purchase an item in store or online and the price goes lower at Target on or before December 24, 2025, you can request a price adjustment. Proof of purchase is required for price adjustments."
That sounds great, but how easy is it to actually price match and receive the credit? It's actually a very simple process. You need to visit a store in person, unless it is an online purchase, in which case you will need to call Guest Services. All you need is proof of the purchase price and the proof of the active price on Target.com via your phone (no screenshots). If you are purchasing the item that day, you can go up to any cashier or the Guest Services counter and request a price match. Then, show the associate the product page that has the price difference on your phone. If you previously purchased the item, bring the receipt to Guest Services and request a price match. You will still need to show them the product page for the item with the current pricing. That's it!
Important guidelines and exclusions that could impact home and garden savings
Now, before you go out purchasing every item on your holiday shopping list, you may want to review some of the important guidelines and exclusions that could impact home and garden savings during the promotion. The first thing to consider is that the price difference needs to be verifiable at the time of the exchange. That means you won't want to wait, or you could miss the deal. If you see a price difference that you like, take advantage of it as soon as possible. You also must redeem the price match within 14 days of the original purchase.
In addition, there are some sales that are excluded from the price match promotion. You can't combine certain Target Circle deals with price matching. This includes Target Circle Bonuses, gift card offers, Registry completion coupons, and Target coupons. Sales that are excluded are clearance, closeout, liquidation sales, damaged, used, open package, refurbished, pre-owned, or rent/lease to own items, discount on total store or site purchase, deals that require a minimum purchase, and non-branded items.
