DIY A Festive Wreath For Any Season Using An Old Kitchen Essential

Every season deserves a fun and unique wreath to hang on the front door, and you don't have to have a traditional wreath base to create something clever. For as little as $2, you can purchase a plastic egg serving plate from Dollar Tree or use one already taking up space in your cupboard as a handy base for a one-of-a-kind wreath. While turning an egg plate into a clever Easter wreath is fitting, you could use it for any holiday or season with a bit of creative thinking and some craft supplies. You can even make this inexpensive wreath with natural materials you find outside throughout the seasons.

For the winter season, think of snowy wreaths, Christmas-themed decor, or even a flashy New Year's wreath. For spring, faux flowers and Easter themes are great. Summer makes us think of beaches of sand and shells, the Fourth of July, and picnics. And for autumn, Halloween or Thanksgiving-inspired wreaths bring the season's colors to your door or wall. The ideas are endless.

How to turn your egg plate into a festive wreath

One item you'll want to start with for your wreath project, aside from the plastic egg serving plate, is spray paint to turn it any color you want. Use a spray paint that adheres well to plastic. You'll need hot glue to attach your accouterments and a hook attachment for the back so you can hang your wreath. The rest depends on the season or holiday you're creating for. For example, you can fill the center area with a holiday message or add fresh herbs to bring the scent of any season into the home – rosemary wreaths smell amazing and look stunning.

For your winter wreaths, fake snow, evergreen embellishments, pine cones, and anything that says Christmas will make great additions. Smaller pine cones will fit perfectly into the egg holes for a festive cold-weather wreath, as will cute Christmas ornaments. For spring, faux flowers and greenery will make your home feel warmer. For Easter, use plastic eggs to fill the indents. You can add bunnies, basket grass, and other things that make you think of this holiday.

For summer, we love the idea of a beach tray filled with sand, shells, sea glass, and anything else beachy. Lean into red, white, and blue for a Fourth of July wreath, with fun streamer bits sticking out to make you think of fireworks. Finally, fall is a great time to use faux leaves and all of your favorite Halloween symbols or forage items from your yard for your fall wreath. For Thanksgiving, we love the idea of using a turkey as the centerpiece and surrounding it with cute little pumpkins, gourds, and other autumn goodies.
