Create A Unique Underwater Floral Centerpiece With This Dollar Tree DIY

Centerpieces don't have to be expensive or fancy. In fact, they can be made out of very simple and affordable Dollar Tree items, as long as you like to DIY. For just a few dollars, you can create a fun and unique underwater floral centerpiece that can bring joy and beauty to your tablescape. The basis for this project is a candleholder, which, when attached to a regular vase, acts as an ornate stem and creates the illusion of something high-end and delicate.

To begin this DIY inspired by TikToker @openmind.777, you'll need a basic Dollar Tree clear glass cylinder vase, a Luminessence glass taper candleholder, and a hot glue gun to build a stemmed vase. Then, by placing small LED tealights under the stem and filling the vase with fake flowers and water, you'll have a beautiful glowing centerpiece that's perfect for dimmed soirées and candle-lit dinners. The best part? There are so many ways customize it. For example, you can purchase some decorative items to place in the water along with the flowers, like aquarium marbles, or float small tealights on the water.

This centerpiece DIY is perfect because it not only fits a dinner table, but it's also lovely when placed on a counter or shelf as a small light. Maybe even place it in a guest bathroom and add a few drops of scented essential oils into the water to deodorize your bathroom. And when you're tired of seeing this DIY, simply empty the water and fake flowers and use it as a regular vase.

How to DIY your very own underwater floral piece

The steps for this DIY are incredibly straightforward, and you can easily get it done in under an hour. Start by placing the Dollar Tree candleholder flat on a table or counter and covering the upper ridge of it with hot glue. Next, take the cylinder vase and attach it to the candleholder by placing it centered on the glue. If you want to make sure that it's fully centered and aligned, consider using a ruler to measure its diameter and mark the exact center of the vase's base with a marker.

Once the glue has hardened, place a small Junpei battery tealight under the base of the candleholder (yes, it's counterintuitive, but we do mean under!). If you want to, secure it in place by adding a few dots of hot glue where it meets the glass, but it's not necessary. From there, all you need to do is add a few decorations inside the vase. Some examples include aquarium marbles, fake flowers, or fake foliage. Then, fill the vase with water enough to cover the decorations, leaving an inch of clearance below the top of the vase. You can even add a splash of color to this DIY with some drops of food coloring to give the water a tint. However, this will likely dye the fake flowers, so make sure you won't need them for other floral centerpiece DIYs.

Finally, top it all up with a small tealight. Gently place the tealight on top of the water, where it should float, before lighting it. Better yet, you might want to get ivory floating candles from piladvbu, which are designed to float effortlessly on water and don't have a metal holder around them.
