DeWalt often tops the list of the best-ranked power tool brands. The manufacturer (with its distinctive yellow and black color palette) is well known for delivering durable tools that offer excellent quality. It's a popular brand that many DIY homeowners and professionals rely on for challenging tasks.
Consequently, when DeWalt announces plans for some new products, people pay attention. At the 2025 Equip Expo in October in Louisville, Ky., DeWalt announced plans to introduce multiple battery-powered products in 2026. One that you may be able to buy now is the DeWalt 60V MAX 12-Inch Brushless Chainsaw. It's listed on the websites of several retailers, including Home Depot ($579 with battery and charger).
An average chainsaw bar length is 16 to 20 inches, so this new DeWalt model is significantly smaller than average with only a 12-inch bar, but since DeWalt is known as a reliable power tool brand according to customer reviews, you can trust that it will stand up to tough jobs. It should be able to handle branches and limbs up to 10 inches in diameter. It will be a strong choice when you primarily need to do branch pruning or cut down small trees. Even though this is a lightweight, compact design for a chainsaw, it has a gear case and adjustable oiler consisting of metal to enhance durability. It runs from a 60-volt MAX battery, which is made for heavier-duty tasks than the 20V battery tools. The LED dashboard on the 60V battery gives you a precise indication of how much battery capacity you have left.
DeWalt's new backpack blower is for big leaf-clearing jobs
Choosing between a handheld and backpack leaf blower generally depends on the size of the job you're doing. Handheld designs are ideal for maneuverability, while backpack designs provide additional air speed for big jobs. Although DeWalt has sold battery-powered handheld leaf blowers for many years, including some 60-volt options, its 2026 product announcements include a heavy-duty backpack blower for the first time. The 60V MAX Cordless Backpack Blower Kit is available for sale in some locations already. Home Depot offers the tool only (with no batteries) for $549.
The 60V DeWalt backpack blower can move air at up to 160 mph and manages up to 760 cubic feet per minute (CFM) of air volume. An average backpack leaf blower for a large working area would offer between 400 and 700 CFM, which makes the DeWalt unit a powerful option. Even though it delivers extra air volume movement, the battery-powered model should run quieter than gas-powered backpack designs because the DeWalt battery unit won't generate engine noise.
When you have a big job and will be working for a long time, the backpack design helps you support the weight of the DeWalt machine with padded shoulder straps. Using the waist strap for additional support is also helpful. The straps are adjustable, helping you maximize your comfort level while working.
Bulk charging DeWalt batteries will become much easier
As you collect more DeWalt tools, you need ways to keep all the batteries charged and ready to use. One of DeWalt's new product announcements for 2026 is the DeWalt 15 Amp Power Controller (model number DCBPC1615). This device plugs into one outlet in your shop. It then has six outlets on the front of the unit where you can plug in chargers. Each outlet on the unit can handle a charger with up to four battery ports, meaning you could charge 24 batteries at one time per unit. The power controller uses a design that prevents breakers from tripping from overloaded power usage through a dedicated 15-amp branch circuit. Each unit has a "priority" outlet marked with white brackets. This outlet receives consistent power to charge the connected batteries fastest, while the other outlets receive a power draw as needed, so their batteries might take longer to charge.
During an interview with Farm Innovations at the 2025 Equip Expo, DeWalt's director of professional dealer sales, Aaron Griffith, says the ability to charge a lot of batteries in one wall-hanging device should be a huge benefit to pros and heavy-use DIYers. "As landscapers and municipalities are starting to convert over to electric, they've got to figure out ways to charge lots of batteries," Griffith says. This unit would work perfectly to manage battery charging overnight, as it can charge all the connected batteries within 5 hours. No pricing information is available yet, and the DeWalt website simply lists the DCBPC1615 as a "coming soon" product.
