Elevate Bathroom Display Towels Using A Special Folding Technique
Although they are easily overlooked, bathrooms can majorly affect the overall feel of your home. Not only do you probably spend more time in them than you think, especially when you add in time showering or bathing and getting ready, but also, guests get to experience these rooms. Although keeping a bathroom clean is perhaps the best way to make it seem nice, adding some elegant touches can also elevate the space. If you are looking for some budget-friendly bathroom upgrades you can complete in a weekend, you may want to start with one that is free: perfecting a special towel folding technique for bars or racks that will make your towels look beautiful.
The technique creates a flower-like shape near the bar and a loop below that can hold a rolled towel. Not only does it double the number of towels you can store on the rack, but it also lets you display your towels while showing off some creativity. This towel folding technique is budget-friendly; all you need is at least one towel and a hair tie, rubber band, scrunchie, elastic, or even ribbon.
To start, grab a standard bath towel, which is usually about 27 inches by 54 inches. You might also be able to complete the folding technique using hand towels, but it will depend on the material of the hand towels and how bulky they become as you fold. Generally, standard bath towels are the easiest to start with, and it is best if they are freshly washed, so make sure you know exactly how often you should be cleaning your bathroom towels.
Performing the towel fold
Hold the towel by the two corners of one of the shorter sides, and fold it into thirds lengthwise. The center third should be in the back, and the two sides should overlap on top of it. Then, fold the towel in half crosswise. Keep the center third the one on the outside of the fold. Next, drape the towel over the towel bar with the center third facing up. Bunch up the ends of the towel, and add your elastic band. Be sure to tie it tight enough to secure the pieces together against some gentle pulling, and leave at least a few inches of room from the band to the towel's edge.
Next, move the towel so that the band is on top of the bar, and the loop is below. Flip out the ends of the towels to create a fluffy, round shape and adjust them as needed. Finally, fold another towel into thirds and in half just as you did the first towel, but this time roll it tightly. It should have the same width as the hanging towel and fit inside the loop created by the hanging towel, so you can place it inside.
While it looks beautiful, be sure not to store damp towels this way. The scrunched areas near the tie and rolled towel may be susceptible to bacterial growth as a result of trapped moisture in crumpled areas. This can cause bad smells and spread germs. For damp towels, hang them so they can dry evenly, and make sure you know how to properly fold a bath towel.
