5 Best New IKEA Items Of 2025, Ranked

IKEA is a brand that is known for new releases, always coming out with products that are aimed at solving problems its customers may be facing. While the sheer volume of offerings that the Swedish manufacturer puts out each year makes it impossible for each one to be a home run, many of the products do have massive appeal from brand loyalists. With a new year just having been heralded in, it's time to take a look at IKEA's releases from 2025; with approximately 2,000 new products introduced annually, there are sure to be a handful that make the list of best new items.

We selected and ranked five of IKEA's top performers, including the STOCKHOLM 2025 Cabinet with sliding doors, the ALEX Limited Edition Drawer unit in black-blue, and the GARDSBUTIK 6-gallon bin with lid. We also loved the TIMMERFLOTTE temperature/humidty smart sensor, and the KLIPPKAKTUS drink holder. Some of these products are very much in line with IKEA's legacy of assemble-it-yourself furniture, offering an attractive aesthetic and a good value, while others are an innovative departure, bringing consumers benefits like smart home management and fridge organization.

STOCKHOLM 2025 Cabinet with sliding doors

First up is the STOCKHOLM 2025 Cabinet with sliding doors ($449), an obvious inclusion on this list of best products from IKEA last year. The cabinet is putting a stylish spin on home storage, so add it to your foyer as a drop zone for keys and phones, or utilize it as a sideboard in your dining room. The versatility of the piece makes it suitable to bedroom settings, as well, should you require additional storage room.

Customers have given it a 4.6-star average, stating that it is easy to assemble and looks beautiful in their home. The rattan details on the doors and the brass handles give it a distinct boho look and feel, while the lighter wood finish keeps it bright. The interior of the cabinet features two spacious shelves that can be used to store books, household supplies, kids' toys, or other odds and ends. Buyers of this piece can benefit from the sliding door configuration, which allows it to fit into tight corners without having to worry about the swinging radius.

ALEX Limited Edition Drawer unit

Secondly, we have the ALEX Limited Edition Drawer unit ($75), which brought the functional storage — five spacious drawers' worth — that individuals have come to count on from IKEA in a new color combo. The modular design of the ALEX line has allowed buyers to create their own storage-meets-workspace pieces while disguising extra storage in living spaces. Whether you're craving a drawer unit as a standalone storage item or want to pair it with a compatible top to build a desk for your home office, the design works for your personal needs and preferences.

Customers who purchased this product have given it a 4.5-star average from more than 3,000 reviews. Many comments mention that the product offers good storage and reliable performance; some quality concerns worth being aware of include complaints of bubbling surfaces or difficulty assembling the piece, however. If you're interested in adding this functional cabinet to your home, beware that the black-blue color choice is a limited edition offering, so the clock is ticking on its availability.

GÅRDSBUTIK 6-gallon bin with lid

The third new product that seems to have delighted customers since its recent release is the GÅRDSBUTIK 6-gallon bin with lid ($39.99). Like many of IKEA's releases, this item is highly versatile. The bins are crafted from lightweight but sturdy plastic and can swing forward to access the contents or be slid out to fully remove. Individuals may find them to be useful for a number of needs, from sorting garbage and recyclables in the home to storing plastic tote bags, shoes, or other odds and ends that don't have a home.

Since they can be mounted on the wall in any space, they can significantly increase your vertical storage — the tops of the bins' housing even allow you to use them as an extra mini-shelf, so you can leave keys and phones there. Customers have given this system a 4.7-star average, making it an impressively popular release.

TIMMERFLOTTE temperature/humidty smart sensor

If you're resolving to save money or help the environment this year, you might be excited about our fourth favorite 2025 release from IKEA, the TIMMERFLOTTE temperature/humidity smart sensor ($9.99). This sensor is affordable and allows individuals to keep a tab on the environment of their home without having to deal with electrical wiring or invasive installation processes.

Since smart home tech isn't something that IKEA has been known for in the past, this release had somewhat of a bumpy release: some customer reviews praise the device and say that it worked well in their home while others were more critical, claiming that the device struggled with connectivity issues. The sensor is compatible with a variety of home systems from companies like Google, Amazon, Samsung, and Homey — one review mentions that their sensor began to work perfectly once paired with their Homey system, which may provide some additional optimism about the future of this nifty device.

KLIPPKAKTUS drink holder

If you've ever reached into your fridge for a canned beverage only to be faced with cans that have fallen over or are difficult to access, you know how frustrating it can be. Even worse is when your guests are looking for something that they cannot find. The KLIPPKAKTUS drink holder ($9.99) is our fifth new IKEA release that is all about helping your organize your kitchen. Designed to hold a number of cans in an organized linear fashion, it ensures that they stay stable and are housed in a predictable and designated spot, rather than thrown haphazardly in the fridge. Even if you prefer slimmer or wider cans, the KLIPPKAKTUS is designed to expand to meet the dimensions of said cans.

Customers who purchased this release from IKEA admit that it does work well for storing cans, but note that the length of the holder only permits four cans per dispenser — if you're someone who is hosting large gatherings constantly, you'll need several drink holders to accommodate your cans.

Methodology used

These five products earned their place after meeting a few requirements: most importantly, each was a recent release by IKEA in 2025. Additionally, the picks on this list received generally good feedback and/or were an especially innovative product for IKEA.

While the first three products are classic IKEA releases (offering that iconic furniture or home storage angle), the last two represent the company's foray into realms that they haven't ventured as much into in the past (the smart home sector and fridge hyper-organization). The KLIPPKAKTUS and TIMMERFLOTTE, while not flawless in their implementation, still received moderate praise from buyers, but moreover they represent the company's willingness to test out products that will improve their customers' lives while keeping costs reasonable at the same time.
