You can make an attractive centerpiece in just a few minutes with a few materials from Dollar Tree. This affordable option requires a quick trip to the store and less than $10 if you already have some basic supplies at home. While there are plenty of budget-friendly DIY lamp projects to make a space look luxe, this is one of the simplest. It doesn't require any complicated tools or uncommon items. You simply need to attach paper patches to the outside of a jar and place a light inside so it glows.

For this project, you'll need Dollar Tree's Classic Glass Storage Jar, a bottle of Aleene's Tacky Glue, a pack of tissue paper squares, a pencil, a paintbrush, four popsicle sticks, a hot glue gun, and a Self-Adhesive LED Push Light. Before you get started, it's good to have an idea of what the final product should look like. The paper squares will form a lush bouquet through which the LED light will radiate. This makes it perfect for a dimly lit dinner or as a decorative lamp for coffee tables, nightstands, and counters. Unfortunately, this project won't work well outdoors because the paper elements will get soggy after the first rainfall. If you are in the market for outdoor lighting, though, you can add a magical glow to your garden paths with another simple Dollar Tree DIY.

How to make centerpiece lighting with a jar and tissue paper

Following the lead of DIYer @miss_vicky_tips, squirt some of the glue onto the exterior of the jar, spreading it around using your paintbrush. Next, remove some of your tissue squares from their packet. Press your pencil's eraser into the center of one paper and pull the edges of the paper toward you. At this point, it should look a bit like a flower. Press the newly ruffled paper against the glue and repeat the process until you've covered the outside of the jar. The video uses white tissue paper, but you can use colored paper, like the Exquiss Autumn Leaf Color Paper Squares, if you prefer. Something patterned is also sure to dial up the visual interest.

The next step is to build the base for the light to sit on. Start by breaking four popsicle sticks in half while your hot glue gun heats up. Glue the sticks together to form two squares. Then, place one square on top of the other to create a star shape. Once in place, you can attach the two squares with hot glue. Finally, set the light in the center and put the jar on top for a beautiful centerpiece that will look good all year round. Instead of a boring white light, try using Sunnyes LED lights, which let you change colors with a remote control.
