Make Charming Valentine's Day Heart Decor For Your Porch With An Easy Dollar Tree DIY

Ah, Valentine's Day, the unsung hero that carries us through the post-holiday blues and on to our anxiously anticipated summer vacation. If you're in need of a little pick-me-up this time of year, what better way to do that than by updating your decor? Imagine vibrant shades of pink and red, sweet words scrolled across paper hearts, and shimmery candlelight to warm the house on these dark days. When you're considering the best way to decorate the home for Valentine's Day, don't forget about the front porch. Use this easy Dollar Tree DIY outdoor heart topiary to create a fun and welcoming space for family and friends to enter your home.

This Dollar Tree DIY will help you decorate on a budget this valentines day and set the mood without breaking the bank. For this project you'll need a few Valentine's Jumbo Foam Hearts, some faux roses from the Seasonal Collection Valentine's Day Rose Light Set, a wooden dowel or stick, a Garden Collection Round Plastic Planter, and a foam block. You need to decorate the hearts and attach them to the stick, post it into the foam block inside the planter, and decorate it to your creative heart's content. You can make as many of these topiaries as you'd like. Incorporate a single one into other decorations on your porch, or make two and place one on either side of your front door — whatever works best in the space that you have. This Dollar Tree DIY is a Valentine's Day budget-friendly porch upgrade you can complete in a weekend so your house will look festive in no time.

Make a Valentine's Day heart topiary for the front porch

Start with three of the Valentine's Jumbo Foam Hearts from Dollar Tree, or alternatively you can use their Valentine's Day Wooden Heart-Shaped Lawn Signs and remove the stakes they come on, setting them aside. To decorate the hearts, glue the faux roses to the front, using all red for one and pink for the other, or mix and match however you like. You can also opt to paint the foam hearts instead and use peel-and-stick letters to write notes like "be mine" and "I love you" across the heart. If you're using the wood hearts, you can glue flowers to cover the front or keep them as they are.

Now, you'll need a wooden dowel or stick that's tall enough for all three hearts, plus enough to go into the depths of the Dollar Tree's planter you'll be using. You can find one at a local hardware or craft store, or, if you're using the wood hearts from Dollar Tree, use the stakes you set aside earlier, gluing them together to make one tall staff. Glue the three hearts to the wooden dowel, starting at the top and laying each one right underneath the next, spacing them out however you'd like.

Place the foam block inside the planter and press the bottom of the wooden dowel into it. Then, fill the planter with Floral Garden Multi-Toned River Pebbles to weigh it down. At this point, the project is complete, but you can opt for some additional adornments, like running Floral Garden Green Leaves and Vine Garland up the dowel and circling the hearts, adding small flowers throughout the pot and pole by gluing them in, or even decorating the pot with more hearts or a bow.
