Martha Stewart's Easter Centerpieces Are As Timeless As They Are Classy
Martha Stewart has been regaling us with lessons on hosting dinner parties and holiday gatherings for over 40 years now. Since she's well-versed in how to decorate the home for Easter, we wanted to know just what her Easter centerpieces look like in her own house. From bunnies and chicks to eggs in nests, it's no surprise that her farm home in Bedford, New York, uses lots of classic Easter elements to keep things timeless, with centerpieces dotted throughout the house.
Stewart shares photos on The Martha Blog of the many tablescape decor designs she uses. In the Green Parlor room, as she calls it, she displays ceramic bunnies that have been wrapped in foil, giving them the appearance of ever-popular chocolate Easter bunnies. They are placed on a gold tray with various accessories — one wears a pink ribbon, and the other holds a bright orange carrot. Elsewhere, she uses a silver tray to display white ceramic bunnies, eggs, and nests with small birds perched on top. According to her blog, this collection serves as a centerpiece on the dining table in her bird room.
Stewart also gets creative with her existing decor, like the large bird statue that sits on a table in her front entryway. For Easter, colorful eggs are strung from ribbon and hung from the mouth of the bird. There's also a table with decorative ducks that get adorned for Easter with pastel ribbon tied around their necks and a nest full of eggs in a wicker basket set next to them. Below, we'll walk you through a simple Easter DIY that will elevate your decor in any room, inspired by Martha Stewart herself.
How to make a Martha Stewart inspired Easter centerpiece
One of Stewart's Easter centerpieces at her Bedford farm house shows us a creative way to use a cake stand as decor in your home. It's an egg-filled nest resting on a covered cake stand. To make one of your own, any cake stand you have at home will work (or you can find one at your local thrift store). The glass cover is optional; you can also paint the stand a pastel color to give it an Easter aesthetic, if you wish. To make the nest, simply lay out some faux moss across the top of the cake stand. You can get moss at any craft store or even at Dollar Tree. Alternatively, you can use Easter grass like you would inside a festive Easter basket.
To make the eggs that go inside the nest, we'll be using wooden eggs that can also be picked up from a craft store. Using a variety of sizes adds depth to the centerpiece. Begin by painting the eggs any color you'd like. Shades like pink, green, blue, or yellow give them an Easter vibe. You can also paint your own design onto the eggs, like stripes or speckles. Additionally, you can use glue to attach flowers, gems, or other accents. Once your eggs are finished, nestle them into the moss on the cake stand to complete the centerpiece.
