A Dollar Tree Budget-Shopper Shares The Chic Way To Keep Drawers Organized

Organizing your drawers is a great way to make sure you can find items more easily and reduce stress. Most people know by now that drawer organizers aren't just for kitchens anymore, as they serve a lot of purposes all throughout the home. However, though it's a serious upgrade compared to a messy space, it's still not always the most beautiful option. A tip shared by the YouTube channel "Do It On A Dime" shows how to balance organization, style, and affordability using items found at Dollar Tree.

You will only have to purchase a few items. "Do It On A Dime" used clear three-compartment organizers and mesh bins to organize her drawer, as well as a stick-on vinyl shelf cover. The creator used this Gray Floral Self-Adhesive Shelf Liner for her decor, but you can choose any pattern you want, so long as it is vinyl and has a little bit of texture. You'll have to measure the size of your drawer interiors to know how many rolls you need. But don't worry if there is some left over. Instead of throwing out that leftover shelf liner, you can reuse it in various ways around your home. You'll also want to grab a pack of small command strips. The hooks should be big enough to wrap around the wire of the mesh baskets, but stay as small as possible to conserve space.

Turning your disorganized drawer into a cute and functional space

The first step of this DIY is to cut your vinyl to size and stick it to the bottom of your drawer. Then, determine the best layout for all of your organizers. As you may be able to see when you start organizing, the vinyl actually serves another purpose besides simply looking nice. The textured topping prevents your organizers from sliding around. If your bins don't fit perfectly or move a bit, don't worry. This is also where your command hooks come in. You will attach them to the sides of your drawer and hook them onto the wires of the mesh to hold them in place. If you have some left over, there are other clever ways to use command hooks for extra kitchen storage as well.

In some cases, to fully utilize your drawer, you may have to rely at least partially on Dollar Tree plastic containers, like "Do It On A Dime" did. These containers help with organization but are not always visually appealing, especially if they are opaque and hide the liner pattern. If you want to add a little more flair, you can also apply vinyl to the bottom of your plastic containers. You can match the same one you already have in the drawer, or go with something that adds a little contrast, such as a bright and solid color to complement whatever patterned material you chose.
