It can be tricky to find ways to decorate your kid's bedroom so it's not too childish as they grow up. They may not be babies anymore, but they're still young, with playful imaginations that you want to nurture. If you've got a creative kiddo who loves Legos, you might want to check out the new room set at Costco. It's the Step2 Contemporary Builders Kids Bedroom Set that looks like it's made out of life-sized Legos.
The set includes a twin bed frame, a large toy box, and five customizable cubes — all available in white or dark blue. Though all hardware needed to assemble the bed is included, it's worth noting that a mattress will need to be purchased separately. The bed frame itself looks like one huge Lego block, and it is the same width across as the large box, meaning you can arrange the latter at the foot of the bed nicely.
With this purchase, you'll also get four square storage cubes and one rectangular one that can all be connected together in various configurations. The square cubes are 10.5 inches wide by 10.5 inches deep and 12 inches tall. All pieces are made of resistant resin construction, with a smooth surface that can help make cleaning simple. While you're already taking care of the things that should be cleaned weekly in your kids room, you can just give them a swift wipe with a damp or dry cloth.
Creative ways to organize Costco's Lego bedroom set
Any parent of a Lego-obsessed child can attest to the never-ending chore of organizing the thousands of pieces of various builder sets. One of the brilliant Lego storage ideas busy parents need are these toy storage bags that can be stacked and stored in the cubes that come with Costco's Lego bedroom set. You can even try getting your creative kiddo involved in clean-up by pretending it's a Lego building game.
If you have extra cube space, you can move one or two of them to use elsewhere in the room. Set them with the opening face up and use them to store things, like socks, hair ties and accessories, on top of a dresser. You can designate each cube to hold favorite items like nighttime books, special stuffed animals, or favorite games. Or, try using them to organize shoes or sports equipment like soccer outfits, shin guards, and cleats.
The large toy box can double as a bedside table if you lay it on its side so that the opening lid becomes an outward facing side. It can still be used to store toys inside, but you won't have to deal with moving everything off the top to open the lid. It can also be used to store extra blankets and bedding. Of course, it can also function as a good old fashioned toy box as well.
