Build An Adorable Floral Hanging Bird Bath Using A Dollar Tree Wreath
Watching birds frolicking in a bird bath in your garden is such a pleasant way to spend a little time outdoors when the sun's shining, and it's nice and warm. Although you could spend a few hours shopping for the most unique bird bath design, it's far better to make your own with just a few simple supplies, including a Dollar Tree wreath, just like YouTuber Lori Blye DIY has done. This allows you to use your creativity to craft an adorable hanging bird bath and save money at the same time. Plus, you'll be making a swinging bird bath that should attract more birds to your yard.
To make this attractive hanging bird bath, you'll need a Floral Garden 14-inch Metal Wreath Form from Dollar Tree. You'll also want one of these Benvo Hanging Plant Chains, which already have the clips and hanging hook attached. If you already have a 14-inch grapevine wreath at home, you can recycle this for your bird bath. Otherwise, you might be able to find one at your local thrift store, craft shop, or even online. You just want to make sure that it fits perfectly inside the wire wreath form. While you're on the hunt for one of these, keep an eye out for a 10-inch terracotta saucer or grab a pretty ceramic plate in the same size from Dollar Tree. Finally, you'll want some floral wire, pieces of dowel for the perches, fake flowers, your hot glue gun, and some E6000 Adhesive. Even if you have to end up buying the vine wreath, this project should cost you less than $25.
How to assemble your adorable floral bird bath
You can paint the wire wreath form and plant hanger in a matching color if you want, or just leave them as is. Lay the vine wreath on top of the concave side of the wire form and attach it securely using the floral wire. While they're not entirely necessary, you might like to use the pieces of dowel to make a few perches around the wreath. You can color these using acrylic paint in a dark shade if you wish. Glue them onto the top of the wreath using the E6000 to hold them securely. Make sure that they extend over the outside of the wreath so that you can still insert the saucer or plate easily.
Once the perches are secure, decorate the top of the wreath by gluing on some fake flowers and foliage that you picked up at Dollar Tree. Different birds are attracted to different colors, so you can opt for red flowers if you want to bring in more hummingbirds or blue to attract bluejays. You can attach these with your hot glue gun, as well as poking the stems into the wreath. All that's left to do is attach the plant hanger, making sure you clip it onto the wire form and place the saucer or plate in the middle.
Now you can hang your gorgeous bird bath outside and add some water. To make it safe for smaller birds, you might want to place a flat rock in the middle. And, if you've found this project easy and enjoyable, why not make a second one and use it as a bird feeder? Of course, you'll also want to know the perfect flower to plant near your bird bath to provide nectar for your feathered friends.
