Turn A Few Dollar Tree Items Into A Space-Saving Solution For Blankets

Blankets are the secret sauce to adding warmth, color, and texture to any space, but storing them? Not quite as straightforward. Sure, they fold up nicely, but then your kids go trampling through the living room, and your pets get the zoomies. In other words, life happens. But one clever TikToker has found a way to DIY a budget-friendly blanket ladder. Even better? It's budget-friendly — you just need a few items from your local Dollar Tree.
On her TikTok account, @luxurypicnicsbybojangle installs two heavy-duty Command hooks, then hangs a piece of rope from each, securing it in place with twine. She then attaches four dowels to the rope using twine and her hot glue gun. Then, once dry, she hangs her blankets and adds a few stylish touches, like tassels, a wreath, and hats.
Want to try this DIY for yourself? From the Dollar Tree, you'll need two strands of Nautical Rope Jute, three rolls of Garden Collection Jute Twine, and two Crafters Square Wood Dowels. You'll also need at least two Command Hooks, scissors, a measuring tape, a hot glue gun, and a free afternoon.
How to DIY an affordable, wall-hanging blanket ladder
Start by hanging your Command hooks. In her video, the creator uses 7.5 lb Command Hooks, but the number of hooks you need, and the weight each can hold, depend on the blankets you plan to store. Get a ballpark of how much they weigh by holding the blankets and stepping on the bathroom scale. Then weigh yourself and subtract that number to determine the blankets' weight.

Then hang one jute rope over the hook and, making sure the ends are even, gather the two pieces together. Point about an inch of the twine down and hold in place with your thumb while wrapping it around the rope to create a loop around the hook. Trim and secure the end into place with a hot glue gun. Repeat on the bottom of the rope (you can skip the loop here, if you like, to create a smooth end), then do the same on the other rope. Next, decide where to hang your ladder's "rungs." Use your measuring tape and pencil to mark the rung spot on each rope. Then create space for the dowels using the same twining method you used to create the top loops. Slide the dowels into place, then add your blankets for clever, stylish storage.
This blanket ladder is perfect for keeping your throws within reach, but it can also help organize and store other things around the house. Add to the back of your pantry door to store extra aprons and display your tea towels, or to organize extra bath towels to keep a small, cluttered bathroom tidy.
