Picture this: You've just come home from a visit to your local garden store and ended up spending the rest of your "pocket money" for the month on an absolutely stunning indoor plant that you just had to have. You know exactly where you want to put it, but the only problem is that you didn't have any cash left over to buy a nice decorative pot to put it in. So, you're just left with a boring nursery pot, which doesn't look all that aesthetically pleasing. Fear not, because there's a solution hiding in your craft room — washi tape.
You probably already know how to use washi tape as decor, and with just a little imagination, you can turn that boring nursery pot into a work of art in a matter of minutes. All you have to do is head into your craft room and take a peek at your collection of washi tape. If you're like most crafters, you've probably got quite a few different rolls of that decorative tape because you already know that you can turn grocery store flowers into something special using this. So, it's just a case of deciding which colors would match the decor in the room where your new plant is going to live and then grabbing a few rolls in that shade and getting creative. Oh, and if you don't happen to have any of this versatile tape lying around, you can get a collection of 21 floral washi tape rolls on Amazon for just under $7.
Ways to decorate your nursery pot with washi tape
Before you get started with decorating your nursery pot, wipe it with a damp cloth and then a dry one. Making sure that the pot is nice and clean will help the tape stick much better. The easiest way to give your container a new look is to just run some stripes of the tape around it, whether you place these close together or space them out so some of the pot still shows through.
But don't just stop there! Why not get a little more creative and maybe place a horizontal stripe at the top and bottom of the pot and then use a different roll of tape and add some evenly spaced vertical stripes from the top down to the base. You could even get more adventurous and cut some shapes out of the tape for additional embellishments or to create a mosaic-type aesthetic. What about some diagonal stripes instead for something completely different?
That's the beauty of using washi tape. It's extremely easy to apply and just as easy to take off again if you happen to make a mistake or you're not particularly fond of the look you've created. And when you're finished crafting, you might want to find out how to repurpose those empty tape rolls around the house and garden so they don't end up in the trash.
