Costco Is Taking $800 Off A Highly Rated Sectional Through Early May
The ultra-popular, plushy Aiden & Ivy Sereen Six-Piece Fabric Modular Sectional is tempting at any price, but when Costco is slashing the price by over 30%, it might be time to act. This expensive-looking couch is surprisingly affordable; nab it for $1,799 until May 3rd, an $800 savings off the original price of $2,599. The Sereen line comes in taupe, cream, and dark gray. All pieces but the ottoman come with a loose back cushion, and the unit includes six matching throw pillows filled with responsibly-sourced down. There's a chance to save $100 more per extra Costco Direct item you order at one time (with a cap of $400). This is good news if you're jonesing for other furnishings in the line, like the Sereen Swivel Accent Chair or the Storage Console with Wood Tray. (Do note that add-on pieces in the Sereen line only come in taupe.)
The Sereen sectional's size is no joke; with the ottoman, the combined seating area is over 25 feet, so measure your room carefully before committing. For the spatially challenged, this sectional could actually make your living room feel smaller. Luckily, there are a handful of practical ways to arrange the pieces that may help the Sereen adapt to limited space. The components are all 46 inches deep with a seat depth of nearly 26 inches. The one-armed sections measure 46 inches wide, while the others fall just a bit short at 43 inches wide.
What buyers have to say about the Sereen sectional
The Sereen is among Costco's highest-rated living room essentials, with 4.7 stars on well over 2,000 reviews. But even a few of the raves comment on the unit's extreme size, some mentioning that they weren't able to fit all of the components in their living room. Though plush and inviting, a number of purchasers share that the seat backs are low enough to make the cushions sit at a severe angle unless the pieces are pushed against a wall. And it's not just the backs that are low; a few older reviewers report that they sink deeply enough into the seats to make it painful for their backs and difficult to get back up. Despite a great price, divine comfort, and good looks, a number of purchasers also found the sectional gave off an unpleasant odor, in some cases strong enough to trigger allergies and migraines.
One reviewer mock-complained that they have yet to find a way to reach a glass of wine while sitting in the corner section — may we suggest ordering a Storage Console or two? These upholstered pods with lidded storage compartment match the height and depth of the other pieces and slide easily between any two sections, providing a place to stash stuff as well as flip-out cup holders, a flat tray top, and a charging station.
