Ryobi Pressure Washers Barely Missed The Top Spot In Consumer Reports' 2026 Ratings

Consumer Reports recently published a list of the best pressure washers in 2026, based on testing from its experts and from owner survey results. Many people consider Ryobi to be a good power tool brand for home improvement, and you might expect that Ryobi's reputation for making great tools at reasonable prices would carry over to pressure washers. In the Consumer Reports list, a few Ryobi corded electric and gas models scored well, but the brand with the highest rating was actually the corded electric Bauer 23142E-B pressure washer. Consumer Reports ranked 57 pressure washer models on its latest list, including gas-powered, corded electric, and battery-powered machines.

Even though Consumer Reports did not select Ryobi as the top pressure washer, it did select a model known for its low price. The 3000 PSI Bauer 23142E-B has a price of $380 at Harbor Freight, compared to $429 for the Ryobi RY143011 3000 PSI corded electric pressure washer. Bauer tools and products are available exclusively at Harbor Freight, and Bauer is one of the Harbor Freight tool brands that ranks as highly popular among customers. Harbor Freight is known as a hardware retailer with lower prices than competitors.

The Consumer Reports laboratory testing gave the Bauer 23142E-B the highest marks possible for its cleaning performance and ease of use. It also received above-average scores for reduced operational noise and the water pressure delivered. The testers measured the machine's noise levels both at the location of the machine and at the end of the nozzle.

The expert testing showed the Bauer 23142E-B cleans different types of surfaces equally well and finishes the job faster than comparable models. To receive the top score for cleaning, the machine needed to be able to use multiple spray nozzles and handle both light- and heavy-duty cleaning tasks. The Consumer Reports testers listed the other primary advantages of the Bauer 23142E-B as its effectiveness in removing stains, its water pressure, and its wide spray angle option.

The Bauer model offers 3,000 PSI of water pressure, which is enough to manage cleaning concrete, vinyl siding, composite decking, and most types of cars and lawn care equipment. With its electric start mechanism, the Bauer machine is easier to start and maintain than using gas models. It includes a 1-gallon detergent tank to simplify soap delivery.

In the Consumer Reports surveys of owners of the Bauer 23142E-B, the owners gave it a near-perfect score for reliability, and it was the top score on the list. However, the Bauer's score for owner satisfaction was below average compared to the other brands on the Consumer Reports list (and significantly lower than the score Ryobi received).

The 25-foot hose on the Bauer model simplifies working over a wide area without having to stop and move the machine around as often. However, the Consumer Reports testing team mentioned the length of the hose as being shorter than comparable models.

On the Harbor Freight website, 93% of customer reviewers recommended purchasing this Bauer machine. However, a few customers gave the Bauer pressure washer a poor review regarding problems with the machine's operation. A couple of reviewers said it stopped working after a few uses. Another reviewer said the soap dispenser didn't consistently work. If the unit stops working for you, Harbor Freight and Bauer offer only a 90-day warranty with this pressure washer. The majority of the 31 corded electric pressure washers on the Consumer Reports list offer a warranty period of 2 or 3 years.
