Everyone Had It In The '70s: The Bedding Trend Making A 2026 Comeback

While there are many once-popular bedroom trends that aren't making a comeback any time soon, one of the biggest 1970s bedroom decor trends is bursting back onto the scene. If you're looking for expert advice on incorporating 1970s style decor into your 2026 home, designer Mugdha Girish Uma told The Spruce that, "We are seeing the '70s making a comeback in interior design, and we see ourselves gravitate towards bold patterns and warm earth tones."  

We're seeing an increase in the bold bedroom prints everyone had in the '70s, with large geometric patterns and bright prints not only appearing in bedding and wallpapers, but even taking over parts of the bed itself. How much of this trend you embrace is up to you, of course, but the really bold are even incorporating elements of popular prints such as florals and pinstripes into parts of the bed such as the frame and the headboard. 

The '70s are back in a big way when it comes to bedroom decor, and the easiest way to incorporate it into your bedroom has to be by investing in some bold bedding. If you're looking for home decor ideas to bring back the '70s, this is a simple way to add some of that boldness to your bedroom. Delicate florals and paisleys are an easy starting point, but we're also seeing bold patterns and even pinstripes making a resurgence in popularity. House Digest's resident architectural and design expert, Sarah Stafford Turner, points out that, "Vintage Laura Ashley fabrics are increasing in popularity, demonstrating the contemporary demand for '70s-style bedding."

For something a little more daring and unusual, why not think about a statement headboard? Sophie Warnars, founder of Studio Warnars, told Homes & Gardens, "I absolutely think statement headboards will be a key bedroom furniture trend for 2026. As bedrooms continue to feel more personal and design-led, we're seeing headboards become a true focal point rather than just a functional backdrop. A statement headboard is a great way to introduce a key textile, whether that's a bold print, a tailored stripe, or a beautifully textured weave. It instantly sets the tone for the room." Interior designer Rebecca Hughes backed this up while talking to Country & Town House saying, "A bold, floral headboard can instantly elevate a space, and if you have the luxury of a high ceiling, a lofty, eye-catching design draws the gaze upward for added drama."
